The H.B.M.S. STEM Program intends for all students to:

➔ Build student confidence, strengthening their abilities to question, research, design, engineer solutions to challenge-based problems.

ART at Hannah Beardsley Middle SchoolStudents will…

● Learn to adapt to and respect others' (often very different) ways of

thinking, working, and expressing themselves.

● Learn artistic modes of problem solving, which bring an array of expressive,

analytical, and developmental tools to EVERY human situation.

● Make decisions in situations where there are no standard answers.

● Communicate their thoughts and feelings in a variety of modes, giving

them a vastly more powerful repertoire of self-expression.

6th Grade Art6th Grade ART will…

Introduce artists to the art elements and principles through

activities incorporating color, space, form, line, texture and

value. Lessons will include exploration and experimentation of

design using a variety of media.

7th Grade Art7th Grade ART will…

Further explore the basic elements of art and principles of

design. Lessons include a variety of media with an emphasis on

individual expression, creative thinking skills, visual awareness

skills and fine motor development.

8th Grade Art8th Grade ART will…

Reinforce and advance what is taught in sixth and seventh

grade while allowing more freedom of expression and personal

creativity. New concepts will be introduced with a higher

priority placed on skill development, craftsmanship, and self

awareness.

ART CLUB● Art Club is held every Thursday afternoon starting in October and

runs through May.

● Students come whenever they are able. There is no need to sign up!

● Art club is an open studio format. Students come and explore a

variety of media and concepts of their choice.
