RAW MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS
Layers : The project shall buy pullets (layers) that are ready toproduce eggs.
Feed : In terms of feed, the main considerations are as follows: The type of feed shall be Layer Mash or pellets
Consumptioneach layer consumes approximately 120150g of feed per day
The feed shall be high in calcium and other nutrients in order
for the hens to produce hard, strong shells The feed must be available in troughs at all times. This is in
addition to fresh water

Layer houses : These shall be in the form of layer batterycages that are put under a roofed house
Feeding Systems : Feeding systems will be required to easilydistribute feed and water to the birds. The feeding systemscan be automatic or manual. An automatic feeding system ispreferable. A Silo will therefore be important to store thefeed.
Ventilation Systems : Ventilation will be important to ensurethat the air quality and temperature is appropriate for thelayers.

Motor Vehicle : A motor vehicle shall be needed to purchaselayers, feed and other requisitions for the project.Additionally, a motor vehicle is essential for distributionpurposes and other logistical needs of the project.

Electricity Supply
The provision of 250 KVA supply of electricity will need to bemade for the project. Where possible uninterrupted supply ofelectricity will also need to be facilitated by means ofgenerators.

Buying 10 pairs of 3 months old Emu birds,Cost Rs.2,00,000(INR)
Cost of Fencing Rs. 70,000/- (one time)
Feed cost per year for 10 pairs of emu birds -Rs.90,000/
Income:
Emu birds start laying eggs after 18 months
First time 10 pairs of emu will give 100 eggs
Second time 10 pairs of emu birds will give 200 eggs
third time 10 pairs of emu birds will give 300 eggs + plus

Emu bird lays eggs only between October to march every year
As per this model project the Total Investment is Rs.3,60,000/-INR (One time Investment)
Income from this model project will be Rs 3.00,000 INR forevery year (Todays market value per egg is Rs.1000/- so (300eggs X Rs.1000/- = Rs.3,00,000/- INR )
This income will continue for 30 years as emu will lay eggs formore than 30 years.
