'hen I was a kid" I got picked on a !ot#

I know it was u!timate!y my own fau!t" ecause of how I communicated#

I had moved so many times" I knew it didn&t matter how I treated other

peop!e###I wou!d e gone again in a month#

That worked for me pretty we!!" for a whi!e#

Then a!! of a sudden my mother decided to stay in one p!ace#

It was third grade" and !ike any other p!ace" I was sti!! a smartass#

But it didn&t happen2

I !earned a !ot from that#

Later" when I had !earned to ta!k to others and rea!i+e that they mattered" that is

when !ife got to e etter#

I know that my re!ationship that is so good now is ecause of how we are



comp!ete!y open with one another" and how we !isten to each other#

The reason I got sa!es" when I worked retai!" was ecause I !istened to other

peop!e and he!ped them find what they wanted#

The point is" if you want to get somewhere" !earn to !isten to the other person

more than you ta!k#

This is more than just understanding what you read" or what they try and teach

you in schoo!#

You want to understand the person you are ta!king to#

You understand where your est friend is coming from" right%

It is the same thing" if you want a good re!ationship" or a good usiness#

If you understand your customer" you ond with them#

'hen you ond with someone" you have more inf!uence#

If someone !ikes you" they wi!! e more !ike!y to uy from you" or he!p you out

You know the company you want to get it from" ecause they have the est

*s you go to the store to get it" the person who comes up to you and snaps at

You immediate!y don&t trust him" ecause of how he comes at you#

You know he doesn&t understand you" doesn&t care aout you" and doesn&t rea!!y

If you wa!k into another store" !ooking for the same thing" the sa!esman who

That kind of reaks the ice" ut it is how he comes to you with it that ui!ds the

trust#

If he !istens" makes suggestions" and genuine!y comes to you in a way that

shows he actua!!y cares" you start to understand each other#

'hat it comes down to is that the first person didn&t show any interest in

!earning aout you" and rea!!y didn&t want to understand you#

It is the same in any re!ationship" whether it is persona! or professiona!#

In essence" it says that what you think aout positive!y is what you get#

I do agree that how you think is going to make a difference in what you get#

I didn&t have the ai!ity to do that" ecause my determination was to survive#

Yes" it caused other pro!ems" BUT I am in good hea!th" overa!!#

/y point is . if you rea!!y want something . you need to have the reso!ve . the

persona! commitment . to do whatever it takes to make it happen2

Set up the reservations" do the steps that you wrote down#

'hen I worked out" I didn&t dout my ai!ity to get there#

There was no wi!!power invo!ved . I decided it was happening" that is it"

period#

do it# It wasn&t even an option#

from you things that just aren&t you#
