    Unit 1: About Me and Work (W4, W5)

    By the end of this unit the pupils will have had the opportunity to: review, list and record personal skills, qualities and achievements;

    match skills, qualities and achievements with specific jobs; identify opportunities for employment in relation to own skills, qualities and achievements; and understand the rights and responsibilities of employers and employees.

    1. Each pupil produces their own ID Card usingActivity Sheets 1(a)-(b) My ID Cardand TeacherBriefingSheet for My ID Card.

    2. In small groups pupils discuss the skills andqualities of the four factitious students inActivitySheets 1(d)-(g)Sample ID Card. Pupils suggest anappropriate job for each usingActivity Sheet 1(c)

    Job Cards and completeActivity Sheet 1(h)Findthe Best Job Match.

    3. Using their own ID Cards pupils select those jobsthat suit them best from the Job Cards.

    Linda has been working in acaf for six months. She is awaitress and is responsiblefor bringing food and drink tocustomers. One day Linda wasbringing soup to a customer, butdropped it on the way. She picked up

    the bowl and was about to clean upthe mess, when another customerasked her for some milk. WhileLinda was getting the milk fromthe kitchen, her boss Janslipped and fell on the floor.
