Retirees Returned to Work

Under MainePERS Rule Chapter 410 employers are required to report all MainePERS retirees who return to work.

Chapter 601 – New Hire

Any new employee should complete a new Application for Coverage. Eligible employees include employees eligible to join MainePERS as teacher member and who work 20 hours or 2½ normal working days per week.

It is important we receive the Application for Coverage even if the employee refuses or is ineligible.

Coverage will be effective the first of the month after an additional 31 days in an eligible position.

Level should be based on their contract amount or annualized salary and will not be updated in April of the next year.
