Treasure Bay Bintan rolls out corporate culture by sharing with local communities

Bintan, 23 May 2015 – A dream doesn’t become a reality through magic; it takes sweat, tears,

determination and hard work. The staff of Treasure Bay Bintan today have never felt prouder of being part

of team that has established a masterpiece that is poised to become a world class destination because

Treasure Bay Bintan will offer many first in South East Asia.

“This event fulfils part of a larger communication plan. Firstly, as we operate across three different

countries: Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia, our staff have a chance to experience and see for

themselves our flagship project, and secondly, a responsible company, we want to engage and get to know

the community in Bintan” said Mr Fong Chee Khuen, Group Chief Operating Officer of Landmarks Bhd,

which is the holding company of Treasure Bay Bintan adding that ultimately, as responsible organisation,

we aim to raise the socio-economic status for the people in Bintan by sharing the benefits with the local

communities. On our part, we not only create jobs and develop competent workers by training them, we

also encourage enterprise by working with local suppliers, and add value via local sourcing.

“In the past few months, Treasure Bay initiatives have been focused on driving local engagement through

their Indonesian team who have been visiting village heads, encouraging young people to apply for

vacancies. Local long serving staff were testimonies of how rewarding their careers have been” said

Jasvinder Kaur, Senior Group PR and Marketing Manager. The recruitment campaign was creative,

appealing to young people fully utilising youtube and other social media channels to create and drive

awareness. “What’s your challenge?” was a campaign challenging anyone to break the record set by the

COO who swam across the 800 meter lagoon in 14minutes. Aside from that, today was also an opportunity

for us to get to know our business partners, suppliers, neighbours and friends in the industry better and

establish stringer bonds so that we can work together to make Bintan the best destination in ASIA.

As a company that is centered on wellness, the event is aimed at raising awareness on the importance of

staying active for health and fitness. The event started with a Zumba dance workout, followed by Yoga.

Then a run among employees. Later on, a swim competition was held among staff. The event saw over

1000 job applications. The event was also graced by Arief Yahya, Tourism Minister of Indonesia.
