    The Hygenic Handbook for Housekeeping Crew is one part of the full River Catering

    Hygenic Handbook

    The Hygenic Handbook for Housekeeping Crew is good reference for all crew members.

    Housekeepingmitarbeiter.

    Here you can doublecheck the most important HACCP rules.

    It is the duty of all Housekeeping Crew to follow these HACCP rules

    in order to be able to provide the hygenic cleanliness and safety on board

    for the guests and the crewmembers as well.

    FOLLOWING OF THE HYGIENE PROCEDURES MEANS SAFETY FOR THE GUESTS AND THE CREW

    WHEN: Before start of work and by entering every new cabin After going to the toilette, after sneezing, caughing and after blowing your nose

    Before eating and after eating, smoking and drinking

    Before and after the usage of disposable gloves

    HOW: Procedure of correct handwashing: Open the waterflow

    Take soap from the dispenser

    Wash your hands incliding your wrists carefully without sprinkling water all over

    rinse it properly

    dry your hands with disposable paper towel

    The handwasching sink has to fulfill the following hygenic points:

    Has to perform hot drinking water of min 43C

    NO BAR SOAP Only liquid soap from the dispenser

    NO REGULAR TOWEL Disposable paper towel from the dispenser

    Important!

    Handwashing does not replace the proper hygenic hand disinfection!!!

    Also the handwashing with disinfectant soaps (antiseptic Products) is no alternative of the Handdisinfection!

    When: The hygenic handdisinfection is compulsory: before start of the work and before entering to every new cabin

    before eating and after every pause in work

    after going to the toilet, sneezing, caughing and blowing your nose

    How: The hygenic handdisinfection means taking (3ml) alcoholic desinfectant from the dispenser onto your hands Massage it in until your hands feel dry (min. 30 sec)

    . Never pour handdesinfectant on wet hands, because that weakens the effect of it

    plus that causes dry hands

    The following rule is valid for all actions: Clean first - then disinfect.

    The hygenic handdisinfection is the easiest, cheapest but the most important duty

    That provides for the protection of the guests and also the protection of the crewmembers.

    2. Correct: cover your hair with a hat. Tight it together if necessary.

    ! Report the suspicion of any kind of sickness immediately to your department head!! Make sure that all handwash sinks in the public area function properly ,

    and they are equipped with soap, papertowels and handdesinfectant! Wash the used plates and glasses only in the dish/glasswashing mashine

    You must wear protective suit when cleaning an infected cabin (Norovirus)! Mask, disposable gloves, shoe cover is compulsory.! You have to take new protective suit for every single infected cabin.! You have to disinfect these cabins with special care.! You have to take new disposable gloves after each and every pause at work.

    Cabin cleaning:

    The following steps should be strictly followed:

    * Before entering to a new cabin wash and/or disinfect your hand (Your hands must be washed in the

    cabin cleaned before)

    * Use only the proper chemicals dedicated to the certain purposes

    * Use the proper color coded cleaning rags

    * Change the cleaning rags after each cabin

    Disinfect your hands after leaving the cabin

    After each cabin use new cleaning rags

    Maintenance of the warm water plumbingThe water plumbing should be constantly maintained in order to prevent the multiplication of Legionellen

    Daily Action: drinking water outlet portsAt the drinking water outlets (faucet, shower heads) in the cabins, every day 15

    Seconds can run hot water long.

    Especially attention needs to be on empty cabins and crew quarters.

    Monthly drinking water procedureIn every cabin (guest and crew), also in the empty cabins,and by all every water taps

    (kitchen, restaurant, crew mess)

    the hot water (60 C)should be opened once per month, for minimum 5 minutes

    The temperature should be documented.

    ShowerheadsEvery 14 days

    Clean and disinfect the showerheads every 14 days. For disinfection please use a Mikroquatt solution and keep

    the shower heads for minimum 15 minutes in it.
