1. IntroductionTheDCM-11isaproductfromtheEmpirBusNXTproductfamily.

Thisdocumentcontainsbasicspecifications,installationinstructions,manualchanneloverrideandfuseresetinstructions.Thisandotherdocumentsareavailableatwww.empirbus.com.

2. SafetyguidelinesandmeasuresInordertoavoidaccidentalshortcircuits,makesuretodisconnectthepowersupplytotheDCM-11beforemakinganyconnections.

Neverusethisproductwherethereisadangerofdustorgasexplosionorotherpotentiallyflammableproducts.

3. ScopeofDeliveryIftheDCM-11isequippedwithanintegratedwirelessreceiver,astubantennaisincludedinthebox.

4. ModelRangeandoptionsBoththeunitandtheboxaremarkedwithmodelnumberandoptionspecification.Eachunithasatotalof16configurablechannels.Forchannelspecification,seetable9.1:Modelrange

Theoptionsarespecifiedbythelastfourdigitsinthearticlenumber.

E.g.A2010103-1100cancontrolupto8analoginputsand8PWMoutputs.

5. Installation

5.1MountingTheDCM-11shouldbemountedonaflatverticalsurfacewithfourscrews(notincluded),withtheorientationasshowninfigure5.1.

5.2ConnectorsThebusconnectorisanNMEA2000compatiblemaleMicro-C5pinconnector.ItisnotrecommendedtoconnectaT-connectordirectlytotheunit;adropcableshouldbebetweenthemainbusandtheunit.

TheconsumersandinputsareconnectedviaMolexMX150Lconnectors.Onlyusecorrectcrimpandextractortoolswhenassemblingtheconnector.UnusedpinsintheconnectorshouldbepluggedwithcircuitplugsinordertomaintainIP65.

5.3PowerfeedThepowerissuppliedonthetwoM6boltswithpositiveontheleft(markedwith+)andnegativeontheright(markedwith-).ThetotalmaxoutputofaDCM-11is100A.

6. CircuitsTheusageofachannelisdeterminedbythemodel,optionconfigurationandprogramming.Thechannelsarenumbereddirectlyontheunit(1through16).Thechannels(inputs/outputs)areontheupperrowofpinsandthelowerrowisminus.Seefigure6.1.TheMolexMX150Lconnectorsconnectoracceptscabledimensionsupto2,5mm2.

6.1.2Digitalinput–positiveConnecttheswitchdirectlybetweenthesource(V+)andthedesiredchannel.NOTE:TheinputandtheDCM-11musthavethesamepowersupply.

6.1.3Digitalinput–commonlineItispossibletohaveaswitchandaLEDindicatoronthesamechannelusingthecircuitbelow.Thecommonlinechannelneedstobeconnectedtoachannelthatcanswitchtominus,whichispossibleonchannel6or14onallDCM-11models.

ThevalueoftheresistorRcanbecalculatedusing:R=(Voltagesupply–LEDforwardvoltage)/0.020A

LEDforwardvoltage(Vf)=nominal1,7–2,2V

Example12Vsystem:

14.5V–1.7V=12,8V12.8/0,020=640Ωminimum(680Ωorhigherrecommended)

Example24Vsystem:29V–1.7V=27,3V

Ifinputsignalsourceispoweredbyanotherpowersupply,aresistormustbeconnectedinseriestotheinput.A10kΩresistorisrecommendedforthispurpose.Theprogrammingmusttakethisinconsideration.NOTE:ThepowersupplyfortheinputsignalsourceandtheDCM-11musthavecommonground.(I.e.Bothbatteriesmusthavecommonground.)

7. ConfigurationThesettingscoveredbythischapteraresettingsthatcanbesetdirectlyontheunit.SomeofthesesettingscanalsobesetfromtheEmpirBusStudioPCsoftware,andsomesettingsneedstobesetbothinthePCsoftwareandontheunit.Forfurtherinformation,seetheEmpirBusStudiodocumentation.

7.1BusIDAllEmpirBusNXTunitsneedstohaveauniquebusID.OntheDCM-11thebusIDcanbereadfromthedisplayontheupperleftcorner.FactorypresetisbusID0(000).

TochangebusIDonaDCmodule:

1. PressandholdRESET/AUTOfor10secondsuntilthedisplayshows“bAS”2. PressMANON/MANOFFthreetimes.DisplaynowalternatesbetweenthecurrentbusID

and“bAS”.3. UsethearrowbuttonstosetthedesiredbusID.4. PressandholdRESET/AUTOfor10secondsuntiltheDCmodulerestarts.

7.2FuseresetAchannelwithtrippedfuseisinnormalrunningmodeindicatedbyaredcontinuouschannelindicator.Toresetthechanneltonormaloperation:

1. Presstherightarrowbutton.”SEL”willbeshowninthedisplay.2. Usetherightarrowbuttontosteptothedesiredchannel.3. PressandholdRESET/AUTOfortwoseconds.Thefuseisnowreset.4. Presstheleftarrowuntilthemessage“SEL”inthedisplaydisappears.

Pleasenotethatiftheproblemthatcausedthefusetotripstillremains,thefusewilltripagain.

7.3ManualchanneloverrideIncaseofbusfailurethereisfailsafefunctionalitythatallowschannelstobemanuallyswitchedonoroff.Forautomaticbusfailurebackupsettings,seetheEnhancedLimpHomedocumentation.

Amanuallyswitchedoffchannelisinnormalrunningmodeindicatedbyaflashingredchannelindicator.Amanuallyswitchedonchannelisinnormalrunningmodeindicatedbyaflashinggreenchannelindicator.

7.4WirelesstransmitterpairingIftheDCM-11isequippedwithawirelessreceiver,thetransmitters(switches/remotes/detectorsetc.)needtobepairedwiththeunitinordertooperate.Eachtransmitterneedstobepairedtoauniquefunctionnumber.

1. PressandholdMANON/MANOFFfor10secondsuntilthedisplayshows“P00”.2. Userightarrowbuttontostepto“P10”forwirelessreceiverprogramming.3. PressMANON/MANOFFOnce.Displayshows“OAS”/“001”blinking.Wirelesschannel1is

selected.4. Userightarrowbuttontochoosechannel(ifotherthan1).5. PressMANON/MANOFFtoenterlearningmode.Displayflashes“LEA”toindicatelearning

mode.6. Pressthewirelessswitch(ortriggerthedetector)thatistobeconnectedtothisfunction

number.7. Whenbuttonhasbeenpressedthedisplayalternatesbetween“LEA”and“ACC”forfive

secondstoindicatethatthetransmitterwaslearnedandaccepted.8. TheDCM-11autodetectsthetypeoftransmissionfromthetransmitterandsuggestsa
