“Emotional intelligence” refers to the capacity for recognizing ones own feelings and those of others, for managing emotions well in ourselves and in our relationships”

According to Mayer and Salovey:

“Emotional intelligence allows us to think more creatively and to use our emotions to solve problems. Emotional intelligence probably overlaps to some extent with general intelligence. The emotionally intelligent is skilled in four areas: Identifying emotions, using emotions, understanding emotions, and regulating emotions”

According to Robert Cooper and Ayman Sawaf

“Emotional intelligence is the ability to sense, understand and effectively apply the power and acumen of emotions as a source of human energy, information and influence. Emotional intelligence emergence not from the musings of rarefied intellect but from the workings of the human heart”
