Miller Blood Bank Drive

There will be a blood drive at Emmanuel’s in the Fel-lowship Hall on Saturday, October 8th from 8:00am - 12:00pm. There is only one sign-up sheet, so it will be traveling back and forth each Sunday. If you have any questions, please contact Sandy Frey at 610-262-1187 When donating blood at Miller Keystone Blood Bank please say Em-manuel’s Bath and the code is 0656. Hopefully this will help solve the problem and we will receive credit for your donation.

October - Bath Food Bank

During the month of October, Emmanuel’s Lutheran Church will help the Bath Area Food Bank by collect-ing boxed mac & cheese, toilet paper and paper tow-els.

The food bank is no longer accepting tomato soup, Jell-o or pudding!

Grocery gift cards (preferably Ahart’s) are needed for emergencies. Please drop all gift cards in an envelope marked “Food Bank” on the church secretary’s desk or please give it to one of the Pastors.

The Bath Area Food Bank is also in need of monetary donations which stretch farther than any amount of food that we can give.

Spaghetti Dinner to Benefit Food Bank

Sunday, October 30th at St. John’s Lutheran Church located at 206 East Main St., Bath, PA. Doors open at 3:00pm. Meal will be served from 4-7pm. All proceeds will benefit the Bath Area Food Bank. No tickets/reservations required. Just walk in.

Emmanuel's Meals From the Heart

What is this? This is a new ministry beginning here at Emmanuel' s where we provide meals to anyone from the congregation in times of need. Meals might be needed after the birth of a baby, after surgery or hospitalization, or during a time of crisis. How will it work? Contact the church secretary or one of the Pastors if you have a need, who will in turn notify the meals ministry Coordina-tor and then volunteers will be contacted to provide a meal, either home cooked or purchased, and then delivered to the recipient. How do I sign up? Please email Michele Geiger at [email protected] or call 610-442-7680 and leave a message with your name and phone number if you'd like to be part of a list of volunteers willing to pro-vide meals to those in need. When we receive a request, you will receive an email with the link for the online scheduling tool. We will also put announcements in the bulletin and make an-nouncements during church services.

The following third graders received their Bibles on Sunday, September 18, 2016 prior to the 9:30 Celebration Service in the Fellowship Hall: Matthew Armstrong, Emma Beil, Caden Dempsey, Hannah Duerr, Mason Graver-Corona, Hannah Hemak and Richard Nemeth.

Look for the green buckets (big ones, actually!) in the fellowship hall and the gathering area (foyer) for collecting tabs from tin cans (soda cans, and the like).

The proceeds from the recycling will be sent to the Ronald McDonald House in Philadelphia to help families of seriously ill children who are hospitalized. We are helping another local church in the area with this project.

First Communion Invitation

Our first communion classes will be offered on Thurs-day, October 20th & 27th from 7-8pm in the DP.

Students will receive their first communion on Sun-day, October 30th and are welcome to worship with their families at whatever service the family chooses. We will recognize all of the students by sharing their names at all of our services.

We will open the class to students from first grade on up whose parents have decided that they are ready to receive the sacrament.

In the past, we have followed a suggestion made by the Lutheran Church in America more than 30 years ago to have students wait until they are in the fifth grade or about 10 years old.

The ELCA is now leaving this decision up to individual congregations and their pastors. Communion is a gift given to us by Christ. We hope that gift will be cherished and understood as a gift from God.

We have decided at this time to let parents work with the pastors to de-cide when is the best time for their children to begin receiving commun-ion.

Communion and Giving Record Reminder

In order to remain an active member on the church’s rolls, a person must commune and give a contribution of record at least once in a cal-endar year.

Please fill out a communion card for 2016. One time and you are done.

Also when contributing to the church, please use your offering enve-lopes or write a check or place money in an envelope with your name and/or church envelope number on it. Thank you for making it easier to keep our church records accurate.

Simply Giving

It is encouraging to see both new and familiar faces at our worship services. Many of you already support the congregation with your time, talents and financial contributions … but greater participation is always welcome. We encourage you to look into our electronic giving program (Simply Giving). It’s convenient for you and provides much-needed donation consistency for the church. Please contact Bob Bennett or call the church office (610-837-1741) for details.

Thank You Cards Received

Dear members of Emmanuel’s and Pastors,

Thank you so much for your cards and phone calls while I was in the hospital and at Gracedale. They meant so much to me. Thank you and God Bless.

Jeanette Barrall

Dear Emmanuel’s Lutheran Church,

On behalf of the Moore Township Lioness Club, I have enclosed a do-nation of $100.00 as a thank you for allowing our club to use your fa-cilities for our meeting. Thank you again,
