Rationale At Emmanuel Catholic College students are required to wear a uniform. Although uniforms are expensive to buy, they last a long time and are usually easy to look after.

RESPECT FOR SELF

Any form of writing or drawing on the body or uniform will not be tolerated. The College uniform is to be worn correctly and with pride at all times, not only at school, but also in public (eg. Walking to and from school in shopping centres.) UNIFORM

For a detail information of the College requirements regarding the uniforms for girls and boys, please see the illustrations below.

Some general statements regarding the uniform include;

• Students, who are out of uniform, must supply a relevant note to their Pastoral Care Teacher outlining why the correct uniform is not being worn. The Pastoral Care Teacher will supply the student with a Uniform Exemption Slip valid for one day. Students must carry this with them all day and produce it upon request.

• Students who repeatedly wear their uniform incorrectly will meet with their Head of Year. In some instances, the parents will be phoned and asked to bring the correct items of uniform to the College. If this is not possible the student may be kept in isolation until the issue in rectified.

• Skirt/Dress to be worn at top of knee length. Skirts not be worn rolled at waist. • If undershirts are worn, they are to be white with no visible logos. Undershirt is not to protrude from

shirt sleeves or bottom hem. • Black belt with simple silver or gold buckle to be worn when wearing boy/girl pant. • In Term 2 & 3 shirt to be tucked in. Trousers to be worn on hips. • Tie to cover top shirt button. Top button to be buttoned. • Blazer (Term 2 & 3) to be worn to and from school and in Pastoral Care class, except where leavers

jumper permitted. • In Terms 2 and 3, the full College tracksuit must be worn to and from school. • Year 7 – 10 students are required to wear their Physical Education uniform on the days they have

timetabled Physical Education lessons (except Tuesdays). This does not include Health and Physical Education elective subjects (e.g. Sport and Outdoor education, Specialised Physical Education, etc.)

• On Tuesdays all students are required to wear their formal uniform for the duration of the day. Any student with any Physical Education classes must bring their Physical Education uniform to school separately and change.

• Students who have school sport training after school may wear the Physical Education uniform home. • Students must wear the correct College hat during all Physical Education lessons in Terms 1 and 4. • Either of the girls’ winter uniform options will be accepted as the formal uniform for College events.

• Students are strongly encouraged to wear the correct College hat, and sunscreen, when in the sun during the break times of lunch and recess, before and after school, particularly in the warmer months of Terms 1 and 4.

• On House designated days students must wear their House Shirt with their Sports Uniform to and from the College, e.g. Patron Saint Feast Days, Swimming and Athletics Carnivals.

Exceptions will not be made as this would be unjust to the students who are following correct procedure and representing the College in a positive manner.

The public image of the College is dependent on the appearance of the students. The support of parents is essential in maintaining the standard of student’s uniform and grooming. Students should be encouraged to take personal responsibility for their own appearance.
