AUSU Candidate Platform

Advocacy SASA Partnership I want to work closely with SASA to fight colonialism on campus and create campaigns around issues affecting First Nations, Inuit, and Métis students. Community Partnerships I want to build partnerships in the community with groups such as CUPE or the Indian Friendship Centre. Keynote Speakers I want to work with the VP External to bring in keynote speakers to talk about student issues. International Students I want to be able to create and run campaigns that address issues that specifically affect international students (things like racism on campus, healthcare, etc.). Student Issues Student Health / Mental Health I will work to establish a partnership with health services in the community. I will work to expand access to counseling services for students. I will also work with the Campaigns Committee to create more AUSU-led wellness days around exams and midterms. Open Forum Ever feel like AUSU isn’t hearing what you’re saying? I want to hold an open forum bi-weekly or monthly to allow students to come out and talk about what kinds of issues they’re having on campus. Daycare Services I want to either create a community partnership or some type of child-minding services on campus for students who have young children.

AUSU-Specific Major Campaigns I want to run three major campaigns during the year: Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women, United Against Racism, and The Hikes Stop Here. Office Hours I aim to work 12 hours a week instead of the required 3. General Assembly Run the 4th Annual General Assembly. Action Plan Create an action plan at the beginning of my term to have all events and campaigns planned out.
