What is Emerging Media?

Social networks – global, people communicating

Social media – broadcasting ideas using media rich tools that are easy to use and often free: podcasts, videos

Virtual worlds – places to interact & share experiences & 3D content with a sense of presence via your avatar

Technologies: cloud computing, semantic web, mobile computing, accessibility tools, info accountability

Tools: Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, Flickr, & many more!

William Kamkwamba’s windmill – Ted Talks [1]

At age 14, W. Kamkwamba built a windmillfrom a library book, increasing it to 4 blades

It powers 4 bulbs and 2 radios with 12 watts
