EMERGENCY
DEPT VISIT
ENDS ON
A HI!
It was a big hello from our Emergency
Department team after a site visit to their
new facility this week.
They inspected progress on new adult
and paediatric zones for triage and
reception, acute care, urgent care,
resuscitation, short stay and satellite
imaging.
The new facility will also have a
simulation room and space for research,
education and training on level 4.
Psychiatric emergency care will also be
located in the department.
While construction is underway, the team
is busy implementing a new model of care
and projects supported by NSW Health to
improve patient experience, in addition to
the Project RED activities already
underway to improve patient flow.
The site visit is part of a program to give
staff a better idea of the physical space,
and help them plan workflows to support
their model of care and expanded
services.
Planning and familiarisation tours will be
available for all staff before the new
building opens in 2019.

PROJECT MANAGER
SIGNS OFF Our Johnstaff Projects senior project manager Itiah
Thomas has left us to pursue a new career. She’s been
an important part of our project team since major
works started on the new
acute services building in
2016. Dedicated to the
very last, she joined the
project team to check
out the sample lounges
for adolescents in the
new paediatric ward.
Thanks, Itiah and we wish
you well in your new
endeavours!
POPPIES SET TO BLOOM
Our Remembrance Day poppy project continues to blossom with
more than a thousand blooms ready to grace our ANZAC Memorial
gardens in November. This week, John from Maintenance and Jane
from our Bookings Office joined us for a site reccie to discuss the
installation. We are so grateful to the many staff and community
members who have been knitting and crocheting for us, including the
Bookings Office team and our volunteers. We’ve also had some lovely
notes from people wishing to dedicate their poppies to family
members or just remember those who served.
