Repairs, repairs, repairs, don’t you just get tired of it but still you are clueless how to get rid of it? Repairs are everywhere: a broken glass window, a flat tire in the middle of a road trip and a defective chair cushion. But what makes it worst is when you are helpless of what steps to take after realizing that your house in Spring, Texas already needs emergency repairs. Who will be going to rescue you in the middle of the night just to fix the leakage on your faucet which causes water to drift off continuously on your sink? Emergency repairs put too much pressure on our shoulders and being proactive is essential to help us get away on the situation.

HOUSE REPAIR

These are the two common house repairs that you should at least know how to fix during out-of-hour repairs:

• Swollen Wooden Doors- during humid weathers, wooden doors tend to swell leaving no space

between the door and the box or the frame. Obviously you cannot leave your guests outside a cold weather and ask them to come back because your door won’t open. And you cannot even take chances on leaving your door unsecured from thefts and other factors just because you cannot lock it.

Rescue tips: Inspect the door for any loose hinge screws or defective hinges that might be causing the problem. You can tighten loose screws but if the door still resists, you might need to plane your door by following these steps:

1) Check and mark the tight spots of the door

2) Remove the door and unscrew hinges from the door face

3) Lay the door on a leveled surface

4) Plane the hinges in a light pressure following the direction of the wood stroke

5) Plane from top edges going to the outside edges but retaining the symmetry of the door

6) Once done, re-hang the door and lightly sand the sides for a smoother surface

• Fixing a leaky faucet

Before getting on the real faucet job, you should first locate the valve where the water comes from. Shut off the water supply by switching off the valve. The typical faucet related problem is the compression-type faucet washer replacement.

Rescue tips: Damaged or deteriorated washers are the most common cause of faucet leaks. To remove the faucet cap, use a flat head screw driver. Next is to unscrew the handle from the faucet stem and next is the packing nut using a wrench. Next is to remove the seat washer and ensure that you get the correct replacement from the store that fits on your faucet. Once you have the replacement just go with the process of returning the parts reversely.

EMERGENCY ROAD REPAIRS

The most frustrating job of the driver is to be also a repairman when some vehicle problems arise in the middle of the road.

• Flat tires- this is one of the basic vehicle repairs that you should need to know before it halters

your road trip

Rescue tips: To be able to change tires easily you should first find a flat and stable place to park your car. If you are using a manual transmission car put it in first or reverse gear and then set the parking brake before pulling out the tire. It is good to know that some manufacturers provide the necessary tools you need for tire replacement together with the spare tire on your trunk. All you have to do is print or bring along a manual with you on the step by step procedure whether you are a pro or it is your first time to do it to keep you also guided on the parts on your vehicle and specifications once you encounter any emergency repairs next time.

WORKPLACE REPAIRS

Safety is important in a workplace. Most of the cases of office accidents relates to falling and tipping primarily caused by damaged fixtures and office furniture. Here are sm

• DAMAGED FILING CABINETS AND BOOKSHELVES

Filing cabinets are the most used office equipment because this is where all the documents filing happen and due to our hectic office schedule we sometimes cannot pay attention on their condition.

Rescue tips: Guard or tape should be placed on corners or edges of office furniture to avoid sharp edges from causing harm to anyone. If you are having a hard time closing and opening the drawers, you can spray lubricant on tracks and rollers so they are easily opened. If your slides are bent or rollers still resist on turning around the usual replacement is the best solution. Just make sure you bring the old slide on the store so that replacements will be easier, knowing

you hold the same size. Make sure to always close drawers or doors once done with them to prevent bumps and tipping off. Big cabinets should also be pushed closed to the wall to provide support and ensure you place them on low lying areas

Accidents on homes, offices and even on the road can be prevented through a cautious effort of ensuring that your area or vehicle does not need any repair. Accidents sometimes happen because of negligence and lack of initiative to do the repair work or refer it to someone who can attend to it immediately.
