Dear Parents and Families
Transition bikes.
Could I ask that parents of Transition students make sure
your children park their bikes in the bike racks? The bike
racks are there to keep all of our bikes in one safe place.
By parking your child’s bike alongside the transition
building it creates hazards for tradesmen and other
people who need to access those paths. Please be
considerate of this when bringing your child to school on
his or her bike.
40th
Anniversary Celebrations and Fete.
This Saturday the 15th
of September is the Nhulunbuy
Primary School Fete and 40th Anniversary Celebration. I
would like to thank the dedicated team of School Council
Members and parents who have formed the organising
committee. Without the enthusiasm, planning and
preparation from this group the Fete would not have
happened. I would also like to thank our wonderful
community and all of the people who have supported this
important event through donations of time and
resources. I must also thank and acknowledge the work of
our staff and students who have been busily preparing for
their stalls
Nhulunbuy Primary School has a proud history as one of
the Northern Territories best public schools, a reputation
it maintains to this day. Schools are a reflection of the
community they serve. Nhulunbuy Primary School is
characterised by a strong sense of community,
professional, caring staff and happy students who are
eager to learn. I look forward to catching up with
everyone on Saturday and celebrating this important
milestone and community event.

Matthew, Ellie and Juan represented the all conquering Arnhem team that recently swept all before them at the School Sport NT Cross Country and Track and Field Championships held in Darwin.
Last week, Bulan represented the School Sport NT, Under 12 Girls Football Team in the School Sport Australia Championships held in Darwin. Eight state / territory teams participated and the NT team finished a creditable 5th with Bulan playing really well as a defender in the team.
School Sports
It was an exciting time in the Transition Unit last Friday as students, parents and visitors from the Regional Office and other schools, worked together through a Walker Learning Session with Early Life Foundations consultant Karen MacKay. Classroom teacher Jessica McCaul and Desarei Stanaway have recently returned from a Walker Learning study tour in Melbourne. Karen was in our school to provide follow up mentoring for these teachers as well as consult with teachers in the primary section and preschool. Gayle Chamberlain and Jenni McDonald will be representing our school at a Walker Learning study tour in Darwin in November.

beads/jewelry making, hair accessories, bath/
toiletries, golf balls/tees, sewing kit, mini first

lollies/sweets or food items, please just bring the
food item in its unopened packet to us and it will
be placed into the jar just prior to the fete. If you
are home cooking, also bring it in wrapped
prior / close to the day. If you have any
questions about the mystery jars please contact
the transition teachers or Jo Cram.
