The purpose of this program is to provide course work specialization in the vital field of Emergency Medicine, while upon successful completion obtaining an EMS certificate. The type of jobs available to the EMT/Paramedic include not only municipality emergency services, but also private ambulance services, public sports arenas, airports, and a variety of other settings. ADMISSION Admission to the EMT Paramedic program is selective based upon pre-admission test scores, academic achievement, professional compatibility and clinical site capacity. Requirements for consideration for admission into the EMT Program include the following: 1. Students must be 18 years or older by the course completion and have a High School diploma or equivalency. 2. Students are required to have a background check and required immunizations for clinical. (see application checklist on website). 3. Students are required to complete a reading Compass Reading Placement Test with a minimum score of 73; Compass scores of 60-72 will require further evaluation. 4. All students must complete and submit a KCEMS EMT course application located on the Kishwaukee College Emergency Medical Services website. 5. Students are required to show a proof of Health Insurance.

Emergency Medical ServicesPARAMEDIC CERTIFICATECurriculum No. 457This certificate prepares the student for licensure/certification as a Paramedic. It allows the student to focus on the classes required to take the state/national exams. Requires 43 credit hours.

EMT CERTIFICATECurriculum No. 458This certificate prepares the student for licensure/certification as an EMT. It focuses on the basic life support knowledge and skills necessary to practice as an EMT. Requires 7 credit hours.

CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION REQUIREMENTS1. Complete specific course and program graduation requirements for the Certificate of Completion as outlined in the Career/Occupational

programs section of the catalog. Each curriculum identifies the specific course requirements needed to complete a Certificate of Completion.2. Meet the College’s academic residency requirement.3. Achieve an overall 2.000 GPA in all Kishwaukee College required and elective course work applicable to the Certificate program

requirements.4. Resolve any incomplete grades in Kishwaukee College course work applicable to the certificate.5. Apply for graduation in the Student Services office.
