EMC‑AH preparedness support is a catalyst for government action and helps leverage resources from partners to strengthen country resilience to animal disease outbreaks. Achievements November 2017–October 2018 Emergency Management Centre for Animal Health EMC‑AH is the leading global centre for animal health emergency management – playing a critical role in strengthening country, regional and international preparedness and response capacity to reduce the impact of animal health emergencies. EMC‑AH coordinated 15 animal health disease events, expanded its role and diversified resource partnerships to build animal health emergency management capacity around the world. EMC‑AH supported six rapid response missions, coordinated six animal disease incidents and contributed to preparedness activities. It also sponsored the Riſt Valley Fever Regional Technical Workshop in Eastern Africa and supported the Emergency Regional Consultative Meeting on African Swine Fever Risk Reduction and Preparedness in East Asia. Expanded focus on preparedness

• Published the Global Rinderpest Action Plan • Led two regional rinderpest tabletop exercises in Africa and Asia • Supported an assessment mission for preparedness in Viet Nam• Sponsored Rift Valley Fever Regional Technical Workshop in Eastern Africa• Supported Emergency Regional Consultative Meeting on African

Swine Fever Risk Reduction and Preparedness in East Asia • Procured over 1 700 protective coveralls and ancillary personal

protective equipment• Conducted four GEMP workshops: over 80 professionals trained • Launched the revision of the GEMP manual

Activated FAO Ebola Incident Coordination Group for the Ebola virus disease outbreaks in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in support of the public health sector
