directional drilling projects require specialized equipment that simply doesn’t exist, Michels

fabricates custom directional drilling equipment to get the job done.

MICHELS…THE LEADER IN UNDERGROUND PIPE REPAIR TECHNOLOGY: When a

large section of underground pipe in an urban setting, required immediate replacement without

breaking ground, Michels adapted a cutting edge technology that rehabilitated the existing pipe with

a revolutionary process known as “cured-in-place pipe”.

MICHELS…THE LEADER IN UNDERWATER TUNNELING: Michels carved a unique niche

in the tunneling industry by addressing the necessity to retrieve underwater tunnel boring machines.

MICHELS…THE LEADER IN THE DEPLOYMENT OF FIBER OPTIC NETWORKS: When

a communications industry customer decided to use a railroad’s right of way as corridors for network

expansion, Michels fabricated rail mounted plow to install up to 26 conduits at a time, up to 13 feet

from the center of the tracks.

integrates hardware, software and data to create, manage, analyze and display geographic

hydrostatic testing and pipeline rehabilitation, transmission, distribution and station construction.

Michels is also the leader in emergency pipeline repair and maintenance as well as high-voltage

underground construction.

land and marine horizontal directional drilling (HDD). Michels is capable of pipe installations of up

to 60 inches in diameter crossing spans of more than 15,000 feet. Michels also boasts more than 65

drilling rigs with up to 1.2 million pounds of drilling thrust and pulling power, capable of boring

virtually any organic material…from sand or clay to solid rock.

T U N N E L I N G :Michels has been constructing tunnels since 1969 and has completed more underwater retrievals

than any other contractor in North America. With a reputation as “cutting edge” innovators,

Michels constructs pipelines, water mains and storm and sanitary sewers through the use of

tunneling, microtunneling, open cut construction and boring.
