Class Placement Requests for 2021

As parents are aware the total enrolment of the school determines the Department of Education’s allocation of funding. The projected number of students for the new year are estimated and funding is according to a strict formula. Teachers spend a huge amount of time considering class placements but parents who wish to express a consideration for their child’s placement are asked to indicate this in writing and forward it to the school. These should be based on what is believed to be in the best educational interests of the child and not regarding placement in split classes or with any particular teacher as the class they teach can change substantially from year to year. Please note that because you make a request for your child’s placement in 2021 that does not guarantee that such a placement will occur. The final date for making a written request is Friday 20 November and late requests will not be considered. Written requests from parents will be shared with the classroom teachers who undertake the placement process. Again it is stressed that no guarantees of particular class placement can be given. Please note that any request is valid for one year only as we do not carry them over from year to year. Also a reminder that if you are NOT returning to Banksia Park in 2021 to please advise the office.

BOOK WEEK

Book Swap—Wednesday 4 November 2020 We are holding our Book Week Book Swap again this year. All you need to do is bring in a book/s before Wednesday and drop at the office. They will record how many books you have bought in and on Wednesday you will be given tickets to take to the Library at lunch time and choose another book/s. Books have already started to come in.

Book Week Excursions On Monday, 19 October 2020 Area 6 & 7 went to the Bullcreek Library for our Book Week excursion. This was run by Tiffany Barton, a famous actor and writer. Tiffany showed us what it was like in the past from many different views such as the nurses, families and aboriginals. She did so with a great sense of humour and interactions with teachers and students. Everyone enjoyed the excursion and learnt about lives in the past. By Chloe Area 7 Areas 4, 5 & 13 went to Heathcote Cultural Centre and listened to an Indigenous story. We went on our excursion. We played on the park. We played hide and seek. We went with Area 5 and 13. It was amazing. By Jensen Area 4
