•Bryan Ashley International, in keeping with its tradition in styling, materials and finish, crafts its furniture using primarily solid woods selected for grain clarity, color coordination and design.

•Combinations of different solid wood species are used within each collection.

•Not all exposed surfaces of every collection are constructed of solid wood.

•Wood products, multi-layered plywood, veneers and laminates are used for certain structural elements, including exposed surfaces that support leather, cane wicker and other non-wood materials, as well as in select components including some decorative table tops, table aprons, bed rails, interior surfaces, back panels, pullout trays, other surfaces, etc.

•Some of our furniture features metal, stone, marble, granite or a composite material with the appearance of these elements.

•Front PostsWhere the design allows, heavy front posts are used for additional case stability and strength.

•Finger JointsAll Bryan Ashley solid wood chairs are crafted using a glue and screw technique across a finger-jointed corner, adding strength to the chair while minimizing flex across the joint.

•Solid Wood EdgesShaped edges are constructed of solid wood, to provide premium quality and durability.

•Mortise and Tenon JointsMany of Bryan Ashley’s case construction features mortise and tenon joinery, a time-proven method of assembling two parts at a 90° angle.

•DovetailingDovetail drawer construction utilizes the best dovetail for each application. Where construction allows, English dovetails on the drawer front and back create a tight fit and add exceptional holding power.

Bryan Ashley International has long been committed to developing and implementing environmentally responsible procedures throughout all phases of the manufacturing process, as well as protecting and preserving natural resources around the globe. We do not believe that being eco-friendly and manufacturing beautiful, functional, and durable furniture are mutually exclusive concepts. We are proud that a variety of environmentally friendly manufacturing technologies and innovative plant management procedures are continuously instituted to conserve energy and reduce waste at our production facilities. At our manufacturing facilities around the world, we purchase raw materials from local suppliers and from indigenous and renewable sources.

We work with other manufacturing partners who are equally committed to the highest production standards while also adhering to international environmental laws and regulations.The woods we use are from plantation farms who regularly reseed their lands.Our lumber vendors use advanced reforestation and land management techniques. We do not use wood from old growth forests or rainforests. .Wherever possible, we use natural or natural/synthetic composites, included in such components as fabrics, leather and thread;CFC-free foam in our upholstered seating; and bio-degradable packing materials. All of our MDF substrates are made from post-consumer recyclable materials.The hardware, door knobs and handles on our case goods are made from salvaged and reprocessed metals.

Environmentally Responsible

• Among the innovative finishing techniques we feature is the Waterfall Finishing System

• Wherein all the excess finish chemicals from the spray guns is recaptured and reused rather than released into the environment.

• The sanding departments in all of our factories use Dust Collection Systems to reduce airborne contaminants within the building and to maintain clean and healthy working conditions for the production staff.

• We are a registered supporter of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative. Our furniture production methods and shipping supplies use natural and sustainable materials.

• As part of our standard recycling program, we reuse shipping pallets and reclaim packing materials and corrugated paper.

• When shipping finished products or receiving raw materials, we try to schedule back hauls to encourage fuel conservation and avoid deadhead runs.

At the specifiers’ request, we offer our Special Green Program, designed for those properties where an even higher level of attention to sustainable issues must be paid.
