Profile A successful librarian and information professional with over a decade in the library field and
nearly 20 years of Web experience along with a deep understanding of the current
landscape of libraries, social media, mobile, and emerging technologies. I am the Director
of Information Technology at The New York Law Institute as well as an award-winning editor
and author of 22 books including Law Librarianship in the Digital Age for which I won the
AALL’s 2014 Joseph L. Andrews Legal Literature Award. I’m an adjunct faculty member at
Pratt Institute, and an international conference speaker. I speak at several conferences a
year, mainly about new tech trends, digital strategy, and libraries. I blog at iLibrarian.

Manage IS & IT departments with 2 dedicated and 1 half-time staff members.
Manage a $200k departmental budget and consult on $1.2m organizational
budget.
Instrumental in devising the new organizational dues structure.
Manage outsourced IT service and third-party developers on projects including:
o Development of a “seamless catalog module” offering integration between
multiple library OPACs.
o Development of SharePoint Web Parts and HTML widgets.
o Development of scripts for leading ERM systems including OneLog,
ResearchMonitor, and Lookup Precision.
o Digitization of large legislative history collection (1 million pages) in
multiple formats including paper, microfilm/fiche, and pdf and the
development of a website application and search interface.
Developed/Implemented an organizational Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity
Plan.
New technology initiatives.
o Redesigning the library website.
Designing site structure based on analysis of site analytics, usability
studies, and departmental needs.
Conducted usability studies including card sorts.
o Implemented a successful eBooks initiative offering member access to
70,000 eBooks.
o Introduced many free and low-cost alternatives to existing technology,

o Established an Electronic Resources Management (ERM) system in the

Emerging Technologies and Web Services Librarian 10/09 – 11/11
Barnard College Library, New York, NY
Led the Library through a Web site redesign and migration to a Drupal content
management system, combining multiple sites into one unified Web presence.
o Developed taxonomies, menus, & site structures based on analysis of site
analytics, usability studies, and departmental needs.
o Conducted usability studies including focus groups and card sorts.
o Created wireframes, site maps, page mockups, and site audits.

o Chaired committee to ensure inter-departmental input into redesign and to
prepare content for migration.
Responsible for the Library’s Web presence which includes supporting and
representing the Research & Instruction, Archives, Media, Zines, and Educational
Technologies departments.
