P&F Easter Raffle Well done to the Parents and Friends group on yet another great fundraiser for our school. $1160 was raised thanks to the many generous donations from our school community—thank you to those who so generously donated. There were many winners from inside our community, which was great! Well done to the winners! If you haven’t already, prizes can be collected from the Administration Office. End of term arrangements Please note that students will be dismissed at 2:30pm this Friday. Please make arrangements to collect students early on this day. PARENTS & FRIENDS NEWS Each year P&F put on a Mothers Day stall at school for the children to buy mum a well deserved present. The stall will be held on Friday May 10th. We ask that each family provide a donation towards the stall - 10 items per family so that each class has an opportunity to purchase. Prior to the stall P&F will put together the donations and have them set out for the kids to do their shopping. We suggest each child brings $5 approximately to buy mum a gift and a paper bag to sneak the gift home ready for Sunday 12th. We ask that donations be at the office by Tuesday May 7th please. Suggestions for donations include: Baked goods, plants, succulents, candles, chocolates, nail polish, mugs, tea/coffee, pen, notepads, jewellery, potpourri sachet etc. E.g. you might buy 10x notepads and someone else 10x pens and P&F will bundle into a little gift. Donations can be bought or homemade. Any questions please ask. Thankyou for the support - the kids love it!

Thanks, Parents & Friends Committee

Classroom Connection

Term One is pretty much done and dusted. Well done to all of the students who represented EPS at

the Division Athletics on Tuesday. Good luck to all students for this Friday’s School Cross Country. Al-

so, a big thankyou to Woolworths who have donated 400 icy poles to help fund a senior excursion to

CERES in Melbourne. The icy poles will once again be for sale this Thursday and Friday.

Preps During Reading, initial and ending sounds in words have been the learning focus. Students have really

enjoyed some fun and engaging Easter activities this week. Continuing to consolidate on recognising, or-

dering and writing numbers to 10 in Maths has kept the little ones busy. Well done to all the Prep stu-

dents on an incredible first term at Elliminyt Primary School. J

Years 1 & 2 Students have been learning about being an ‘Upstander’ if they see someone being mean to someone

else. Students have been enthusiastic during ‘Readers Theatre’ applying new and known strategies to

their reading. Learning the importance of place value and representing ones, tens, hundreds and thou-

sands in a number has been the key learning focus in Maths. During Writing, students have been work-

ing extremely hard planning, drafting and publishing creative narratives.

Years 3 & 4 During Mathematics, students are learning about money and applying this knowledge to real life situa-

tions. This includes purchasing items online from Woolworths to plan for a party. All 3/4 students have

been working tirelessly to plan, draft and publish a persuasive writing piece of their choice. Throughout

Integrated Studies, students have been researching and increasing their knowledge of different cultures

to create a poster. Being an ‘Upstander’ not a ‘Bystander’ has also been a key focus the past few weeks.

Years 5 & 6 During Integrated Studies, the big kids have been creating posters that demonstrate their understanding

of either a ‘Religion’ or ‘Culture’. These will be presented to their peers before the conclusion of the

week. Trying to persuade a person to come and live in Australia has been the focus in Writing sessions.

Further developing and refining reading strategies and applying these to a range of texts has been evi-

dent in the senior classrooms. In Numeracy, students have been working extremely hard to increase

their knowledge of multiplication facts and processes, triangular and square numbers and mental maths

problems.

Enjoy the holidays!
