Note: The Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) defines the

roles and rules for the Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) Exam.

MC Strategies supports the HFMA’s CRCR exam.

Purpose of the CRCR Exam

This product provides HFMA certification. Upon the successful completion of the exam, you earn the CRCR designation

that serves to authorize a national level of technical achievement for a body of knowledge within the healthcare revenue

cycle arena.

Preparing for the CRCR Exam

Preparing for the exam includes study guides and information about the exam.

CRCR Study Guides

You have the option to choose to read the online study materials that consists of three self-study online training modules

(study guides) developed to assist and prepare you for the examination. These study guides take approximately 12-15

hours to complete. Your Organizational Administrator (OA) will grant you access to all three modules. It is not mandatory

to read the online study materials. If you do not have access to any of the three study guides, contact your OA for

assistance.

Where to Find the Study Guides

The study guides and the exam display as lessons on your E-learning Not Completed page in the LMS (see the

example below). The study guides are divided into three HFMA Certified Revenue Cycle Representative modules. The

exam displays as a lesson named HFMA Certified Revenue Cycle Representative Exam.

About the Study Guides

Within each study guide module, every chapter has review questions at the end of the chapter that are not graded and are

for your convenience in studying.

About the Exam

Questions from the exam cover the following topics:

64 questions from Patient Access

65 questions from Claims Processing Account Resolution, and Cash

21 questions from Compliance, Financial Management, and Support Departments

Questions are multiple-choice type questions, presented one at a time in random order. The screen below displays a

typical question.



Answer Questions on the Exam

Read each question and the four possible answer statements (A, B, C, and D) carefully. Click the radio button next to the

statement you think best answers the question. To select a different answer, click that answer’s radio button. Only one

statement can be selected per question.

When you have selected your answer, click the [Submit] button in the lower-right corner of the screen. Your answer is

submitted and the exam moves to the next question. Once you click [Submit], you cannot go back to a previous question

to change your answer. In addition, the system does not allow you to skip questions. A submitted answer is your final

answer.

Open the CRCR Exam

Before you start the exam, read the student affidavit, complete the contact information and read the instructions for the

exam.

1. Log on to the EPM with your username and password.

2. From your Personal Page, click the [View] button to the right of My eLearning Lessons.

3. Click the E-LEARNING NOT COMPLETED tab (if not already selected).

4. Click the HFMA Certified Revenue Cycle Representative Exam link..

5. A Student Affidavit/Confidentiality screen displays.

6. Read the affidavit. When finished, click the [Accept] button at the bottom of the page. A Contact Information screen displays.

7. Complete the contact information. Fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required. Click the [Save my Information] button when

you complete the form. The About the Exam screen displays.

8. Click [Start My Exam] to begin.



Exam Results (Pass / Fail)

When the exam closes, your results display.

Note: You may need to refresh the screen to see your score on the

test. To refresh, click [F5], or right-click on the screen and select

Refresh.

You are asked to complete an evaluation about the exam. Your evaluation marks provide HFMA with feedback for

continuous improvement of the exam.

Failed Exam

If you do not pass the exam, a screen displays with the message shown below.

1. Click the [Next] button to continue. An evaluation form displays for you to fill out.

2. Fill out the evaluation form, and click the [Submit] button. A thank-you page displays.

3. Click Go to My Personal Page. The exam displays as completed from the E-LEARNING ALL MY LESSONS tab, even though you

failed the exam. To view your actual score, look to the right of the exam link to see the percentage score.

If you pass the exam, a screen displays with the message shown below.

4. Click the [Continue to Evaluation] button to continue. An evaluation form displays for you to fill out.

5. Fill out the evaluation form, and click the [Submit] button. A congratulatory letter displays.

6. Click the ‘Click here to access certificate’ link. Your certificate of completion displays.

7. Click the print link to print your certificate.
