The Statue of Liberty was a gift of friendship from the French people to the United States and is a universal icon of freedom and democracy. The Statue of Liberty was dedicated on October 28, 1886,and was make as a National Monument in 1924 and restored for her centenary on July 4, 1986.

Ellis island is a small island is located in the bay of the New Jersey coast, in the shadow of the Statue of Liberty. From 1892 to 1954, over twelve million immigrants entered the United States through the portal of Ellis Island, a small island in New York Harbor.

If you are going to see the Liberty Statue, you can go up to the viewpoint on the torch. But you can also see how amazingthe statue is at her feet.If you are going to Ellis Island, you can know more about it in the museum( that are the original facilities ).

The Liberty statue was made in a workshop in France and then transported to New York. The statue is 93 metres high ( the statue and the pedestal ) and weights 225 tons. It is made up of a thin layer of copper. The island where it is placed is called Bedloe island.

Ellis Island started working on 1st January 1892 with the arrival of an Irishwoman, and finished on 12 November 1954 with a Norwegian man. Then the facilities were made a museum. Over twelve millions of people came to Ellis island.
