INTRODUCTIONThe Ellies Group was established in 1979 in
Johannesburg, South Africa. The Ellies Group is
presently the largest manufacturer, Importer,
wholesaler and distributor of television reception
related electronic products as well as domestic
electronic and industrial audio products, and is also
dominant in most of its areas of focus. The Ellies
Group services retail, furniture, hardware and the
independent market places in Southern Africa, with
exports into Africa, Europe and Australia.
The Group controls the packaging, marketing, sale
and distribution of both its own manufactured and
imported products. In 2008 we acquired Megatron
Federal that focused on power generation,
transmission and distribution. In 2010 Ellies
established In-Toto Solutions that specializes in
both Government and Corporate projects. Ellies
Holdings holds 49% of In-Toto Solutions. Ellies
also formed Skyevine as a joint venture
company with 45% share holding. Skyevine core
business is supplying internet via satellite.
The Ellies Group was listed on the JSE’s
Alternative Exchange (Atlx) on 5 September
2007, under Ellies Holdings Ltd. In November
2010 the Group moved to the main board of the
JSE under the electronic and equipment.

The Group consists of a Head Office located in Johannesburg and 13 branches located
throughout all major metropolitan areas of Southern Africa to provide local sales, services
and distribution. These branches are situated in Pretoria, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, East
London, Durban, Bloemfontein, Nelspruit, Polokwane, Upington, Namibia, Botswana and
Swaziland.
The Group has manufacturing and warehousing facilities in Village Deep and Chloorkop
Johannesburg. Head Office occupies buildings totalling 70 000 square meters. Branches
and subsidiaries have an accumulated size of another +/-70 000 square meters.
Branches operate with a large degree of autonomy, which enables them to adapt to best
service their local region.
Ellies has a total staff compliment in excess of 1700 employees.
Ellies has many agents and customers throughout Africa, Europe and Australia and supplies
both aerial and satellite equipment as well as turn key electrical equipment to all these
areas on an ongoing basis, and has become a leading brand name in television and satellite
accessories, and associated hardware.
The Group maintains extensive warehousing throughout southern Africa to ensure ‘just-in-time’ deliveries to customers.These warehouses store products manufactured by the Group as well as imported goods, with sufficient inventory to best meet orders processed.
The Company boasts an impressive infrastructure to support its many business operations and great care is taken where distribution & logistics are concerned.Deliveries are performed using a fleet of 33 vehicles, as well as courier services with in-house terminals that specialise in deliveries to retail, furniture, hardware and independent stores in urban and rural areas countrywide. The majority of goods are delivered to our customers anywhere in Southern Africa within 48 hours of order placed.
Ellies is a leading supplier and distributor to large retail chains. Goods are packed as required by the retailer, delivered by appointment, and then merchandised by our own staff. In other words, Ellies takes care of goods from warehouse to the retailers’ shelf. Merchandisers also look after all point of sale materials, repairs and servicing. The Ellies name in retail is now synonymous with service excellence. “Your needs, our technology”
Ellies has extensive container loading facilities enabling it to expedite export orders. It’s in-house forwarding and clearing department takes care of export orders from proforma, to delivery at the customer. The Company has the ability to ship in excess of 80 containers per month to customers and branches.
In order to meet its pledge to deliver all orders timorously, the company maintains extensive warehousing throughout Southern Africa. This ensures “just-in-time” deliveries to customers.

SALES & MERCHANDISING
With a new Sales Strategy Map developed, Ellies has embarked on a re-alignment of our Sales force to deliver higher levels of efficiency and service management across our independent customers, retail chain stores, and furniture, hardware and export customers. The objective of our re-alignment strategy is to deliver sustainable long term value to the business and our customers.
With a sales force compliment in excess of 400 sales representatives, sales managers, product knowledge specialists and merchandisers in South Africa we are focussed on improving our account management capability and service level offerings to our core customers.
Due to the diversified range of product categories within our business, Ellies enjoys a larger market share across our core customer base. Our strength is amplified in the training and development programmes in place for sales personnel with respect to product knowledge, customer activation, in store promotion management and more importantly, how to improve the sell-out rates from our core customer stores.
Our Group also works very closely with our key suppliers to improve our brand equity, improve the quality of our products and to provide both our customers and consumers a compelling value proposition.
Fully stocked trade counters cater for the small independent TV antenna/ satellite/ renewable energy installers, mainly form the informal sector that do not have storefront/ retail outlets. Our trade counters ensure that these installers receive personal attention and excellent service by equipping these independent installers with the right product and product knowledge, Ellies stimulates the organic growth of these businesses.
Ellies also has a dedicated telesales department at every branch. The sales team tends to customers immediate needs and processes all orders directly from their terminals. Extensive regional call centres facilitate calls from retail store customers who have purchased installation vouchers for satellite TV. The customer details are then entered onto a specially designed computer software program that allocates an installer to the customer and tracks the progress of the installation to its completion. Our call centres are open from 8am to 9pm seven days a week.
MARKETING & DESIGN
The Marketing department focus is on creating and implementing innovative and ever changing
strategies to ensure continued growth and awareness of our product range. This team is also
responsible for managing the groups corporate identity and all of its combined strategic
business units branding, marketing and advertising strategies. The department facilitates retail
promotions to promote new products and create public awareness.
All artwork for packaging and promotions is designed by an internal marketing team and well
equipped in-house graphic design department.
This gives The Group the ability to adapt to new trends and developments in packaging and
advertising. This department has also worked with many customers in developing cutting edge
packaging for their OEM products.

IT DEPARTMENT
The Ellies IT department runs one of the largest Accpac accounting software installations in
Southern Africa. The system has over 450 workstations and file servers, and is fully internet
enabled hosting its own interactive website.
The IT Department facilitates development of custom programs for some of the Groups unique
requirements. An example of one of the unique programs, is the Installation Voucher System.
This Voucher System allows us to track the sale, booking and payment of an installation voucher
and caters for all voucher types to be sold and maintained. Strict processes and secuties are in
place to prevent the logging or redemption of illegitimate or fraudulent vouchers. The system
also prevents duplication of jobs, cancellation and re-allocation of voucher from date of capture.
The Group boasts an innovative engineering design and production facility. The Division has a“state-of-the art” light metal fabricating plant. There are 10 departments within this division which include light eccentric presses, heavy presses, pipe bending, welding, grid spotting, powder coating (which can paint two colours simultaneously) a tool room, and a CNC (Computer Numeric Coding) division. The CNC division comprises of high speed punching press brakes, pipe benders and robotic welders. Ellies Industries manifactures its own satellite dishes and support bracketry and caters for both coastal and inland conditions by using steel, stainless steel and composite materials.
Ellies Industries also has its own galvanizing plant and powder coating plant. The Plant has its own tool and die manufacturing capability, and through this division new products are continuously being designed, including various types of steel furniture, computer stands, wall brackets, TV, LCD, Plasma and Appliance mounts and shelving to satellite and terrestrial mounting brackets as well as Satellite dishes both for local and international markets. The newly comissioned grid line can produce up to 5 000 Antennae per shift. Two powder coating liones are in use to maximise output of four different colour products simultaneously.
This facility now has its own screen printing capability, enabling the group to create brand awareness and be flexible to OEM customer requirements.
ELLIES INDUSTRIES
Many of Ellies’ products are designed and manufactured in South Africa. These are developed and supported by our large R&D Department. Some examples of these products are, the marketing leading Wizard Remote Blaster, Wizard Audio/Video Sender as well as the new patented Sart Remote Blaster. All electronic products are manufactured using the latest SMD (Service Mount Device) technology, and automated pick and place machinery. This manufacturing facility produces in excess of 1 million product units per annum. All products sold by Ellies are supported by local maintenance facilities nationwide.
The Company strives to continually re-invent itself by developing products relevant to its core Business. This includes related industries such as wireless remote extenders, surge and security products.
ELLIES R&D AND SMD MANUFACTURE
Ellies has its own fully mechanised blister packaging facilities which can producein excess of 600 000 blister packed products per month, with its 36 high frequency welding heads.The high frequency blister offers maximum visibility while offering the best product protection and security against theft and damage. this facility includes 4 ‘state of the art’ Cryovacing machines.
Cryovac is a strong, ultra clear plastic type wrapping that secures goods packed in boxes, neatly loose stock sold in bundles and creates an ultra high gloss on packaging finish.
This department allows for flexibility in packaging as well as accurate planning that gives Ellies the capability to meet the demands of ever changing customer requirements and packaging industry trends.
ELLIES PACKAGING
Elsat is the largest distributor of satellite Equipment in Southern Africa and enjoys a market share in excess of 70%. Elsat has become a household name throughout Southern and central Africa. It supplies a comprehensive range of dishes, receivers, LNBs, cable, connectors as well as a complete range of remote controls and remote control extenders. Elsat facilitates installations nationwide through its call centres and sophisticated systems which include project management of independent Installers. the Elsat brand has become synonymous with satellite television throughout Africa.
Elsat has the ability to provide customers with OEM branded product through its screen printing and customised packaging facility.

Elsat Rentals offers a unique rent to own concept, accommodating our vast selected clientele. This division has the ability to assist our clients according to their specific individual requirements allowing clients to choose a system and products most suitable to them.
Installation and full maintenance for the proposed period is calculated into a monthly rental.
This division specialises in the rental to both multi-unit dwellings and single unit dwellings of satellite, terrestrial television intercom , access control , audio & video equipment, lighting and generators. Green Energy and Solar Products and any other products that might be attractive to the consumer on a fully maintained rental basis

Ellies Commercial Solutions has developed a new campaign 'Go Green, Think Red' launched this week to highlight its offerings for the commercial market looking to reduce its carbon footprint and costs.
In its latest campaign, incorporating the slogan, 'not just tree-hugging green but money green too', it has pledged to help companies save up to 70% on their lighting bill while cutting carbon pollution. As part of its campaign, it is offering companies a free commercial lighting audit.
