Statistics and Opportunities 20 % of the Egyptian population is between 15 and 24 years

50 % younger than 25 years and 90 % of the unemployed reaching to 11% of the population are younger than 30 years old

The situation is particularly tough for young women

15 % of Egyptians aged between 10 and 15 are illiterate

In 2002, Egypt modernized its intellectual property law, raising it to strong international business standards that will allow private benefit from innovation for the public; a necessity to encourage entrepreneurial activities and innovative thinking within the young generation and link them to a strong international network

IP culture needs to be fostered to connect local and international business

What is HOPE Project? It is a platform to foster innovation in various disciplines in schools and universities across Egypt.

International and local collaboration that will harness the passion and energy of the young people of prestigious organizations such as AIESEC and the youth of the developing countries using world-class know-how.

Strength of HOPE will empower our youth to address unemployment and gender inequality, build tolerance and secure a better future.

Being there in 3 of the biggest universities in Cairo supported by Cairo University, Ain shams University and Helwan University. The project will be delivering the promise of empowering youth to impact the society.

3-5 International Students (trainers) will support and develop HOPE platforms at each school/university

International student teams will consist of diverse backgrounds, training and gender, each student from different strengths, such as IT, business, and soft skills, to develop full innovation in entrepreneurship projects

Projects will consist of a minimum of 2 cycles lasting for 1 months each: one month for international and Egyptian students to develop projects in Cairo, and one month to take projects outside of Cairo

HOPE platforms will remain in universities and schools for continued engagement and networking

No religion nor politics will be discussed within the framework of the project

Program Structure • Training of international students by Microsoft, TEDxCairo and other learning partners

• Structured courses

– AIESEC members shadowed by Egyptian students will be teaching main modules:

Brainstorming, pitching, conflict management, team working, innovative thinking, thinking skills, future applications of IT

• Workshops

– Students will form groups and teams as a main activity of the program

– Students will first brainstorm about challenges within their communities and in their surrounding environment

– Egyptian students will then act as problem solvers and innovative solution providers work within their teams to present their idea and their pitches in convincing scenarios

• Idea Competition

– A series of local institution competition will be arranged then a final national competition will be launched

Project Deliverables Quantitative Output

• The project is based within a reality framework and built around applied training by objective

– The students are encouraged to act as innovative ploblem solvers and creative solution providers to issues and challenges within their communities and environment

– The students will be mentored to think objectively about challenges surrounding them and will be empowered to take action by coming up with creative ideas

– The students should come up with 4 minute pitches about their ideas addressing related issues in: business, arts, culture, media, IT, social, environment.....

– The expected number of innovative idea produced by each platform will depend on the number of students attending

Qualitative Output

• The output is a major consideration from the onset of the project and its impact goes beyound creative ideas and innovative solutions it extends to the projected increase in:

• Number of students stiving to excellence in education and looking to compete for international scholarships.

• Number of students participating in exchange programs

• Number of students beleiving in the power of innovation and checking sites such as TED

• Proficiency in English language due to the long term interaction with foreigners

• Increaed number of students engaged in civic societies and extra curricular activities

Certificate of Attendance

• A certificate will be issued for the students passing the program as a

way to encourage attendance and encourage extracurricular activities and youth social engagement

Proposal of Cooperation between AUEB and AIESEC Athens • 10 scholarships provided by AUEB to students in order to cover the participation expenses, the

flight cost and some living expenses (total of 500€per each scholarship)

• Promotion of project by AIESEC and recruitment of participants

• Social Business Idea Challenge, AUEB has access to the output

• Mrs. Voudouri is coordinator of the selection process of the applicants

• Preparation of the participants by AIESEC

• Showcasing Impact (reporting of participants, promotion of the project in media)

• Promotion of AUEB and International Masters Programs of AUEB to foreigners students,

participants in HOPE Project

• Closing event/seminar organized by the participants in AUEB
