CompetitionInternational design competition, Fall 2012.

Project Requirements:Design a skyscraper to revitalize the Manhattanville New York City neighborhood. Must include a sky garden and hotel; office space is highly recommended.

Team Concept:Weave adjacent Riverside Park and urban environment of 125th Ave. into a multi-use skyscraper. Elements of an urban park form an organic street that travels through the building. It invites people from the business, residen-tial, and commercial markets. People experience gardens on each level and can freely travel through the building to the main sky garden.

Rails to Trails

Project Requirement:Develop a site along a seven- mile stretch of an abandoned Cincinnati railroad.

Self-designed Program:Convert an abandoned rail yard into a Community Center for a Cincinnati neighborhood. Project presented to Wasson Way founder.

Concept:Designed a multipurpose gymnasium, learning resource center, outdoor roof patio, and community skate-park that incorporated the existing loading docks. By utilizing the original building, the design maintains a sense of place and history, and joins Xavier University and the Norwood and Evanston neighborhoods.

A poem should be motionless in timeAs the moon climbs,

Leaving, as the moon releasesTwig by twig the night-entangled trees, Leaving, as the moon behind the winter

leaves,Memory by memory the mind --

A poem should be motionless in timeAs the moon climbs.

A poem should be equal toNot true.

For all the history of griefAn empty doorway and a maple leaf.

For loveThe leaning grasses and two

lights above the sea -- A poem should not mean

But be.
