GENERAL PRESENTATION
T he course aims to enrol the coaches into a more scientific approach to strength and conditioning. Training methods will use collaborative approaches, exchange of practices and reflections between peers from different countries and sports
culture. Ultimately, the aim of the course is to the improve sport performance at the highest level.
This strategic partnership is co-funded by the Erasmus + Programme of the European Union.
ORGANISATION
5 Elite European institutions have designed a vocational training course composed of 5 training sessions of 7 days (including 2 travel days & 5 effective training days) in the 5 participating countries; each session will deal with a topic related to elite strength and conditioning.
The host institution will organise each training session.
The selected trainees will travel to each host institution and will be supported for transportation, accommodation and catering. Logistics will be provided by the centres.
TRAINING TOPICS
Each institution will have in charge a specific topic according to its expertise :
• Training load - INSEP France• Testing and Implementation of results - Umeå University /
Swedish Sports Confederation• Individualization in strength and conditioning - KUORTANE OTC
Finland• Self-Management and Team Management - Swiss Federal
Institute of Sports Magglingen (SFISM) - Switzerland• Injury prevention and back to sport work - Università degli
Studi di Milano – The University of Milano will recognize 8 ECTS to the participants
PLANNING OF THE TRAINING SESSIONS
The planning of the sessions takes into account the Tokyo Olympics period and should enable the strength and conditioning coaches involved in Olympic preparations to be available for their athletes.
• Session N ° 1 : 20-24 Junuary 2020, PARIS FRANCE
• Session N ° 2 : 16-20 March 2020, STOCHOLM SWEDEN
• Session N ° 3 : 14-18 September 2020, KUORTANE FINLAND
• Session N ° 4 : 23-27 November 2020, MAGGLINGEN SWITZERLAND
• Session N ° 5 : March 2021 MILAN ITALY
METHODOLOGY
The training process chosen is based on exchanges and collaboration between peers (trainees) to work on case studies resolution, linked to the training topics.
Specific contributions of scientific or experiential knowledge in the form of conference or clinic will be included as well as formal and informal exchanges with experts of the topics addressed.
The collective work will be formalized and shared with posters, infographics, etc. presenting the case studies’ solutions.
REGISTRATION PROCESS
PREREQUISITES
To take on the course in the best conditions, the candidate will have to meet the following requirements:• To be fluent enough in English to communicate• To be a full time professional in Strength and conditioning coaching, for a sport
federation, a club or an organization from one of the partner countries (Finland, Switzerland, Sweden, Italy, France)
• To work on field with athletes
SELECTION PROCESS
The candidate will have to fill an online application form before end of September 2019. A first selection will be made on the applications. The candidates selected at the end of this first stage will be called for an interview. They will be evaluated according to their educational background, their motivation to take on the course, the feasibility of their project and the level of fluency in English.
