It's nice to meet you!  Busy Mom, Mimi, Sweetheart,

Friend & Photographer are just a few of the hats I wear on

a typical day.  I'm pretty sure you juggle quite a few hats

of your own so you're feelin' me when I say busy.

Hopefully this little handbook will help you out a bit.

Our Elf on the Shelf, "Mr. Jingles" has been in our family

since 2011 and we have had a blast with him!

I like to plan out what sort of trouble he'll be getting

himself into in advance because I'm just like that.  It also

makes it so much easier!  If you fail to plan then you plan

to fail right?

I've created this little handbook for you to help you plan

and to give you a comprehensive "goto" guide to use as

an Elf on the Shelf resource.

I hope it helps make the holidays even more amazing for

you and your family.

Welcome!Hi there, I'm Di.

XOXO

What is all this Elf Business Anyway?

That's exactly what I said the first time I saw a friend posther Elf on Facebook.

An Elf on the Shelf is a story book you buy which comes with an

Elf that your family names after you read the book for the first

time.  The general story is that the Elf comes back each year

when you put up your Christmas Tree, reports your child's

behavior to Santa each night and he leaves again with Santa on

Christmas Eve.  During their stay with your family most elves are

quite mischievous (with the help of Mom & Dad that is).  *smiles*

Where to Find an Elf for Your FamilyThere are all sorts of Elves out there so you can be sure to choose the Elf that is right

for your family.  Here are some helpful links to a few available on Amazon.  Personally

I think Amazon is the easiest way to go.  I haven't looked at WalMart or Target but I'm

sure you can get them there as well.

Your Elf can even have clothes & pets!

How to Easily Pose Your ElfI found a tutorial on Pinterest to add wire to your elf and make him bendy.  I bought

the stuff to do this to Mr. Jingles and then got worried that while that may help with

some poses it may actually make other poses harder so I changed my mind.

You can't beat no sew ideas though right?  If you try this and it works...let me know!

Click the Gingerbread Man to be taken to the wire tutorial.

My no sew alternative was to simply glue some small pieces of velcro to Mr. Jingles

hands.  This idea has worked well for us so far.  I may yet try the wire option...we will

see.

Welcome Back: Arrival Ideas

Write "I'm Back" on the counter using sugar or flour.Make a "rope" out of candy canes down the wallby "hooking" them together & put your Elf at the end.Set your Elf anywhere with a "Greetings from TheNorth Pole" note (printed or hand written).Put your Elf in the bathroom and write "I'm back" onthe mirror.

A great idea is to have an arrival tradition for your family.Same Elf time. Same Elf spot.

Our Elf, Mister Jingles, comes back each year the night we put upthe Christmas Tree and he always arrives in a stocking.
