Setting- is a time and place at which the events of the story happen. The time may be the past, present, or the future; day or night; and any season. A story may be set in a large town or an ocean or even a jungle.

Plot - is the sequence of events in a story. The plot is
the writer's blueprint for what happens in the story.

Rising Action- Rising action is the sequence of events, including the conflict, that leads to the climax.
Falling Action - Falling action is the sequence of events that leads to the resolution of the conflict.

Elements of Fiction
Exposition- The Exposition sets the stage for the story. Characters are introduced, the setting is described, and the conflict begins to unfold.
Climax- The climax is the point of highest interest or suspense in the story. It is the turning point when the action reaches a peak and the outcome of the conflict is decided.
Resolution- The resolution occurs at the conclusion of the story. Loose ends are tied up and the story comes to a close.

• They are different than just an emotion a character might feel at one time.

• Round Character- A round character is multidimensional and fully
developed for the reader.

· Flat Character- A flat character has only one outstanding trait. The reader never knows anymore about him/her.

Foreshadowing is the use of hints or clues that suggest what events will happen later in a story. Writers use foreshadowing to create suspense, draw readers into the plot, or to prepare readers for the climax.

Tone reveals the emotion that theauthor brings to a subject.

Positive tone - conveys a good feeling about the topic. It might show happiness, pride, delight, humor, love,romance, or a number of other emotions.
Negative tone - communicates bad feelings about the topic. It may show sadness, anger, hate, disgust, or a number of other negative emotions.
Neutral tone - is neither positive nor negative emotions. If they have no opinion or do NOT want to show it, they will avoid using words that express any sort of feeling. Words that may be associated with neutral tone may be fair, straightforward, neutral, or impartial.
