updates from LA Committee Meeting of 1/24/2014. We will plan a thematic unit to support our SLO for 2013-14.

Grade 1 & 2: Continue to review the Math CCSS pacing chart, define area of focus, and align with current math resources to develop lessons and plan instruction. Continue to create common formative assessments for addition and subtraction units in order to prepare students to be able to demonstrate understanding and application of skills required to ensure students are meeting proficiency.

Grades 3 & 4: The Reading consultant will share information and resources from state SBAC conferences. Teachers will gain knowledge of the new CCSS/SBAC ELA documents to compare alignment with current curriculum and practices. Teachers will be able to design units and lessons that align with CCSS/SBAC.

Special Education Teachers and Stephanie Labelle: Analyze and review work assessment data, as well as continue to develop lessons and plan instruction focusing on student learning objectives to ensure academic growth in reading comprehension.

Student Outcomes: Students’ academic growth will be enhanced by all PLC

activities. Students will be able to demonstrate their learning through appropriate specifically created activities as they experience CCSS/SBAC rigor in Language Arts.

Description: Speech department will learn how to analyze a language sample.

12:30-3:30 Activity Name: Occupational Therapist Professional Development

Description: OTs will examine visual perceptual and visual motor skills as they relate to reading skills and written output.

Learning Outcomes For Teachers: Participants will examine visual perceptual and visual motor skills as

they relate to reading skills and written output. In addition, participants will develop interventions and strategies for promoting perceptual and motor skills needed in the classroom setting.

Student Outcomes: Activities will result in improved student interventions leading to development of perceptual and motor skills required for reading and written output. Participants will increase collaboration with educational teams, and families for successful transfer to practice and accommodations.

East Lyme Middle School 12:30-3:30 Activity Name: Math Grades 7 & 8 Description: Study new CCSSM units to be implemented during 2013-2014.

Activity Name: Physical Education Description: Development of CFAs for data analysis of student progress in

Physical Education Classes.

grade 5 Curriculum – both instrumental and general music.

Activity Name: Guidance Counselors Description: Participants will review programs and procedures that promote

positive interactions with students and address bullying prevention.

Participants: Dave Costa, Meredith Tukey, Jennifer Lathrop Learning Outcomes for teachers: Participants are going to investigate additional programs that

address bullying in the areas identified in the Climate Survey completed by parents in Spring 2013. They will share the information at a faculty meeting to provide strategies that promote positive interactions with students.

Student Outcomes: As a result of this activity, fewer student incidents will be reported.

High School 11:30-2:30 Activity Name: Special Education 101 Description: Participants will work with Brian Reas and a team of Special

Education instructors from the High School.
