Getting Startedwith Right Brain Education

Welcome to Wink! After TweedleWink, we shift from a general program of exposure to math, languages, music, art and science to one which is designed to keep the right brain active... to a learning program called Wink!

Once your child’s left brain abilities begin to emerge, it is important to play games to keep the intuitive, absorbent right brain open. Wink activities balance brain development by keeping the right brain continually involved with left brain thinking. A perfect harmony of creativity and logic!

In this Getting Started information booklet, we’ll teach you how you can keep your child’s right brain pathways open and active.

Here’s 4 Steps to help you get started right away!

1 Read up!

2 Create your space.

3 Gather materials.

4 Play!

1 Read Up!What is Wink?Wink is based upon Drs. Ornstein and Sperry’s Nobel-prize-winning split-brain research and subsequent theories and accelerated learning techniques.

Wink uses a heart-based philosophy to teach just about everything to children of all ages, but especially early childhood when the learning window is wide open.

What is Right Brain Education? There are two sides of your brain: a right side, and a left. They are connected by a “bridge” — a band of nervefibers called the corpus callosum. Each side hasa distinct personality.

The right side is creative and emotional. The left side is logical and practical. The corpus callosum “bridge” allows these hemispheres to work together harmoniously to do just about anything we set our minds to.

Learn more before you begin.

Parent-Teacher TrainingRight-brain memory and speed reading games are a breeze... when you know how! Wink’s 7-step program gently eases your child into the process.

Wink Level 1 Training CourseThis easy home training course will show you how to reactivate and keep your child’s right brain pathways engaged for more effective learning. You will be surprised how much you can personally benefit from it, too!

This is a six-module course, including:

Module 1: Right Brain EducationModule 2: Alpha RelaxationModule 3: Eye TrainingModule 4: Creative ImaginationModule 5: Memory Tune-UpsModule 6: The Power of Not Thinking

2 Create your space.Find a relaxing, cozy space—for you and your child.

Creating your own private classroom is a unique experience. By establishing a place of comfort for learning, you become intimately acquainted with your child’s needs.

The cheerier, more comforting it is, the easier it will be to really relax and enjoy your time together. The more love you put into your space, the more excited you will feel to have a lesson together.

A beautiful, friendly-feeling learning space can be created in 4 steps. When following these steps, it is important to pay attention to the details. Right-brain children tend to be highly-sensitive and react (positively and negatively) to many nuances that adults may not think much about.

Pay attention to the “feel” of the...

• Space • Furniture• Climate • Wall decor• Color • Lighting• Fresh Air • Music• Plants • Scent• Lesson Trays • Water• Temperature • Thoughts/Feelings

3 Gather materials.“Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere.”

—Albert Einstein

Wink materials are designed to do just that! Each step has a different and unique purpose. Together, they stimulate inspired flashes of right-brain inspiration and link your child’s creative genius to the practical left brain.

Step 3: PhotoEyeplay

The Camera for the Mind Wink PhotoEyeplay is a unique visual process which stimulates the ability to see an object’s after-image, or negative photographic image. After-imaging activates the primary vision centers used for photographic memory.

Wink: PhotoEyeplay PackageThis PhotoEyeplay product is a package combination of the DVD flashcards, the deluxe printed card set and the color shapes cards.

Step 4: Mental Imaging

Magic Carpet RidesYour mind is the laboratory of your soul. Once your mental imaging ability is developed, you can use your mind to play-out and test ideas before creating them materially.

Wink: Mental Imaging DVD (Visual Stories) This DVD stretches your imagination, guiding you through five imaginary journeys where you are encouraged to use all of your senses to create a multisensorial mental experience.

Step 5: Memory Linking

Right-Brain Memory Linking Memory linking consists of learning to recall many items in a specific order without the drudgery of rote memorization.

The Memory Train setWink Memory Train is a fast and easy way to build whole-brain memory. Sequentially memorize up to 300 images at a time! Includes: 15 cards of 300 images, narrative audio CD and starter memory cards (for initial training purposes).

Step 6: Observation Training

The Power of DetailsObservation Training is the means of training your eyes (and your mind) to see more imagery details. The more details you consciously perceive, the more vivid is your recollection.

Wink: Observation Training DVD This DVD contains Observation

Training lessons to help you build your imagery recall and remember more details in everything you see.

OBSERVATION TRAINING GAME - Place an assortment of items on a blank lesson mat. Ask your child to pick out details, such as colors: “How many objects are [red]?” You can do the same activity by organizing the material into different shapes or math quantities.

Step 7: Photographic Memory & Speed Reading

Photographic MemoryPhotographic memory consists of remembering several things at once, in order or at random. This type of instant memory is considered to be more right brain, and fosters creativity and intuition in learning.

Wink: Photographic Memory and Speed Reading SetThis DVD brings you through 3 levels of memorization with: picture images (photographic memory), words (speed reading), and math quantity.Includes: DVD, a set of six Color Grid Cards, Color Blocks.

Speed ReadingSpeed reading can boost the abilities of slower readers, and help faster readers read even faster. It does not depend on your education level or intellectual development.

SpeedReader-X Online Speed Reading SystemSpeedReader-X® is designed to make learning speed reading fast and easy. The system consists of ten, easy-to-follow on-line lessons.

4 Play!Ready to start?Wink games are fun. For best success, present only three activities per lesson at first. We like to organize them into five school days (Monday to Friday).

Download this FREE Daily Planner to start now!

Q. When should my child begin?A. You may use Steps 1-6 with small children, as long as they enjoythe process and are not tested or stressed. However, please wait until your child is independently reading before presenting Step 7.otherwise you can stress your child, producing the opposite effect.

How to give a QUICK Wink Lesson

Invite your child to have a lesson with you. Get comfortable. Play soft music in the background. Always begin with Step 1 and Step 2, then add one more Wink activity, as follows.

Step 1: Alpha Relaxationo Relax using the guided mediation audio CD, simple breathing exercises, or with a 5-second hug.

HEART-TO-HEART BREATHING - Hold your child on your lap. Encourage him to close his eyes. Allow him to listen to the beating of your heart. After a few moments, give a him a hug and begin your lesson.

Step 2: Eye Exercise o Warm up your scanning speed with an eye exercise!

Final Step: Choose one more Wink activity.

Monday PhotoEyeplay o After-image 1 card and 1 object

Tuesday Mental Imaging o Go on 1 magic carpet ride

Wednesday Memory Linking o Play with the Memory Train story

Thursday Observation Training o Play the DVDs or play w/objects —slowly, for observation —flash and recall, for memory

Friday Speed Reading (readers only) & Photographic Memory o Flash and catch words, play DVD or on-line Speed Reader X lessons
