China The Great Adventure Element USA started working in China in Janu-ary 2011under a contract with Hostetler Zhang Studer. The Great Adventure has taken ele-ment to 30 Cities and worked on 52 projects from Concept Development through con-struction. The projects were massive in scale, but each project had small detail. The pro-jects varied in type from communities for 140,000 people, commercial districts, parks, and streetscapes. In April 2012, element USA started working in China. element USA has associations with Chi-nese design firms for on the ground project support, contract negotiations, project man-agement, and interpretation. In association with EOP Architects element USA has estab-lished working relationships in Harbin, Shenzhen, Hong Kong, Chengdu, Beijing, and Shanghai. element is currently working on Unbridled China’s World Class Equestrian Training venue in Beijing and recreation, health and wellness master plan in Harbin.

Brilliant Farm are a 40 acre residential compound on the 400 acre American Society of Landscape Architects Honor Award winning Farm. The estate consists of a the Carriage House, Six Casitas, two bath houses, Pool House, Pool, Chapel, water features, formal gardens, private gardens, kitchen garden, green house, new road system, drives, patios, shade structures, restoration of the 1795 house, and art garden.

Brilliant Farm is a 400 acre state of the art broodmare, foaling, and thoroughbred racing facility. The gardens at Mt. Brilliant are loved by all who get the chance to visit them. They have hosted the Governor and many other dignitaries. They are a place for the family to relax or host a spectacular party. The garden includes several secret gardens, koi pond, maze, kitchen garden, pool, and great lawn.

Spaces are created for informal quiet time and the large garden wedding.

Padua Stables At Bluegrass Heights Farm, Lexington, Kentucky Padua Stables new home in the Bluegrass is the historic Bluegrass Heights Farm on Old Frankfort Pike. We planned the new farm, designed the new residence, office, and entry. We are also on call for farm construction related items for the new barn construction. Bluegrass Heights Farm is in an historic overlay district and has PDR restrictions as well. The owners want everyone that drives Old Frankfort Pike to know Padua has arrived and is open for business.

Villa at WinStar Farm Woodford County, Kentucky The new Villa on WinStar Farm is a new landmark on the historic Pisgah Pike. The stately residence is a protected and secluded retreat for the private family. The grounds offer all of the activities the growing family desired, a family retreat, a place to entertain family, friends, business associ-ates, and the occasional large festivity.

Darley at Jonabell Farm Lexington, Kentucky The 1815 historic Bell House is getting a major face lift. The Bell House is becoming a pri-vate retreat for Sheikh Mohammed and his invited guests when they visit the bluegrass. The elegant design is to make the Sheikh feel at ease whether with a small group, 50 of his friends, or hundreds when the occasion arises. Event spaces are organized to ac-commodate various size events.

Business and Technology Eastern Kentucky University Richmond, Kentucky The new Business and Technology center was designed for traditional students, non-traditional stu-dents, and the business community to learn and interact. The site design of the campus caters to the student, a place where interaction with some of the sharpest minds come together for learn-ing, testing, growing, laughing, crying, and preparing to lead our world. The design of the B&T campus allows for these things in addition to being safe, easy to take care of, affordable, and built to stand the test of time. Project by SCB, William E. John Grant Crabbe Library Eastern Kentucky University Richmond, Kentucky The people places created as part of the overall development of the new John Grant Crabbe Library are a masterful blend of old and new. The contemporary library addition was added on to the existing historic library. The site development not only had to blend the two styles, but was to become a place where meeting and exchange of ideas, as well as friendship building activities could take place. The new addition was sited on a major circulation route on the cam-pus. Calming curved steps were used along the circulation route with a change in the pavement scoring pattern to invite people to sit down in the sun or shade to relax, read, or talk. Low mounds were added between the walks to encourage pedestrian traffic to stay on the walks, but were kept low so safety was not compromised. The historic sides of the building took on a more formal appearance. This complemented the historical style of the building and rich tradition of the campus. Project by SCB, William E. Adron Doran Student Center Morehead State University Morehead, Kentucky The Adron Doran Student Center Plaza required a comprehensive approach to transform the major campus drive access that allowed vehicular traffic to cut through the campus while creating public space opportunities. Vehicular circulation was redesigned to allow visitors and commuters easy access to the campus without compro-mising the everyday activities of the students, faculty, and staff of the University. The new plaza space has become a place where stu-dents, faculty, and staff come together to people watch, talk, eat, interact, learn from each other, and ready themselves for life. Diddle Arena Plaza Western Kentucky University Bowling Green, Kentucky Directly adjacent to Diddle Arena, on Avenue of Champions, the Diddle Arena Plaza accommo-dates many functions. It can accommodate many on game day, it is a great place for medium size gatherings, and can be an intimate place to people watch during the many regular school days. Providence Montessori School Campus Master Plan Lexington, Kentucky Element USA guided the redevelopment of Providence Montessori School on the near west end of downtown Lexington. Element USA led the master planning, phasing, final design, city approvals, hydraulics, construction documentation and administration. Elements of the Master Plan: included complete redesign and reorganization of the vehicular traf-fic patterns, athletic, free play, and environmental educational learning including green infrastruc-ture, and outdoor spaces were created artistically, creating well defined limits the kids could easily understand.

Montgomery County High School Football Stadium Mt. Sterling, Kentucky Project by SCB, William E. Esarey, Director / Designer, developed the high school competition sta-dium for football and track. The plan included handicap accessibility, places for people to inter-act, site amenities, and landscape.

Union Electric Corporate St. Louis, Missouri An American Society of Landscape Architects award winner. Un-ion Electric is the major utility provider in the St. Louis, Missouri and Illinois area. UE is located on the edge of downtown St. Louis on a 10 acre campus. The project consisted of designing the campus for multiple users, security, controlled access, and site amenities. William E. Irish hill 30 acre urban infill Louisville, Kentucky The design revolves around four main areas: Reconnecting the neighborhood: to Irish Hill, greenway, Bus Station, Beargrass Creek, Ohio River, Bike Lanes, Future Light Rail, and Restores street grid connections Business and Housing: Two story live / work along Lexington Avenue and Beargrass Creek, and high rise housing Remediation of urban ecology and Beargrass Creek: Cleans a Brownfield site and renovates an urban section of the Beargrass Creek Infill that meets neighborhood needs: provides space for retail and business.

Idle Hour Country Club Lexington, Kentucky The Idle Hour Country Club has undergone a complete renovation of its Donald Ross designed course and historic club house. Project by SCB, William E. Esarey, Director / Designer, redesigned the site of the club house area.

Lexington Country Club Lexington, Kentucky The Lexington Country Club lost its primary access point when Paris Pike was redesigned from a two lane state road to a beautiful, controlled access, four lane pike through the historic central Kentucky Bluegrass. Project by SCB, William E. Esarey, Director / Designer redesigned the site circulation, parking, drop-offs, created a new front door, and redesigned the circu-lation for the multi-functioned users.

The curving entry road is full of surprises from framing the views of the new estate and crossing the new stone bridge over the lakes and water falls.

Chevy Chase Residence Lexington, Kentucky The Chevy Chase Residence underwent a complete makeover. The design provided independ-ent living and accessible provisions. The design provided privacy on the busy Chevy Chase street and a secure yard for the family dogs. Because the end result increased built hard surfaces a ‘Green’ drainage system was included.

Mt. Brilliant Farm Lexington, Kentucky An American Society of Landscape Architects, Honor Award winner, Mt. Brilliant Farm is a 400 acre state of the art broodmare, foaling, and racing thoroughbred facility. Element USA implemented the master plan into a place where people just want to spend time. Sensitivity to the lay of the land, preservation of topsoil, safety, ease of operations, and beauty were all primary design ele-ments.

Bluegrass Heights Farm Old Frankfort Pike, Lexington, Kentucky The Farm is in an historic overlay district and has PDR restrictions as well. The owners want everyone that drives Old Frankfort Pike to know they have arrived and are open for business. The farm mas-ter plan is sympathetic to the historic concerns yet operates as a 21st century business. Farm op-erations, organization, safety for horses and workers, sympathy to the lay of the land, environ-mental concerns, historic restrictions, and the natural beauty of the farm all went into the crafting of the farm.

Riverport 400 Acre Mixed Use Master Plan St. Louis, MO Bill worked on the 400 Acre mixed use development situated on the Missouri River in western St. Louis is a proposed home of the St. Louis Rams NFL team with Sverdrup Corporation. The develop-ment provides retail, business, office, and recreation facilities. The site amenities included entry development, trails, parks, and water features.

Texas A&M University Research Park College Station, Texas Bill worked on the master planning, green space, trails, and water feature develop for the 800 acre campus with Fred Buxton and Associates and Bovay Engineers. The water features were devel-oped out of a small dry stream. The features include 21 waterfalls that provide water quality and water quantity for the development.
