Kings Preschool Continues to Grow!

The Kings Preschool is adding another preschool classroom

this coming school year. The preschool is offering another 4

day morning class. The Kings Education Center currently

houses all preschool classrooms in the district. This past school year there were 14 preschool classes and 184 children

attended Kings Preschool.

The new class that is being added is a 4 day Preschool class that will serve special needs and typically developing chil-

dren, ages 3-5. This classroom approach is the process by which all children, including those with disabilities are edu-

cated together, allowing each child to excel and enrich the learning environment. Teachers are Intervention Special-

ists along with being certified to teach Preschool.

For more information about the 4 day preschool class or other preschool classes, please click here or call Susan Guck-

ert at (513) 398-8050 ext. 10043.

KME Student is Legislator For a Day

Zoe Lenney, a fourth grade student in Mrs. Jane Weed’s class at Kings Mills Elementary,

was chosen as a winner in the Legislator for a Day Essay Contest. Ohio State Representative

Ron Maag sponsors an Essay Contest each year where he asks elementary students to write

about a famous person in Warren County. This year, 35 elementary students from South-

west Ohio were invited to the State Capitol in Columbus to participate as a Legislator for a

Day. Zoe’s winning essay was about Dr. Joseph Warren, the gentleman who Warren County

was named after.

While at the Statehouse, Zoe and her fellow student legislators learned

how a bill is passed and then participated in a mock session where they

worked on three separate bills. After the mock session, the students

and their parents took a tour of the statehouse and had the opportuni-

ty to ask questions with Representatives Maag and Paul Zeltwanger.

Representative Maag’s Office said that they really enjoy this special

day. Maag said, “It’s important to keep young people involved in gov-

ernment.”

Summer Educational Resources

Are you looking for something for your students to do

this summer to keep their minds fresh? Research

shows that most students lose 2-3 months of grade

level math equivalency over the summer. The Kings

Local School Curriculum and Instruction Department is delighted to inform you

about some programs available to help reverse summer learning loss and be pre-

pared for next school year.

An hour a week is all it takes for your child to strengthen his/her math skills, and

prepare for the year ahead. The TenMarks Summer Math Program will guide

your child through their personalized program, one topic at a time, helping them

refresh what they know, and learn what they don’t know. Each assignment con-

tains embedded instructions (hints, video lessons, and interventions) to help your

child refresh concepts from the past year and prepare for the ones ahead. For

more information on how to access the summer math program click here.

Also this summer, the Butler County Educational Service Center is offering Sum-

mer Enrichment Programs all throughout the summer. For more information
