Customizing stylesBeside simply applying styles you can also customize them. There are already defined layer effects for each style like drop Shadow, Bevel and Emboss... and their settings like size, color, style... which you can customize in many ways.

Show/Hide style effectYou can exclude or hide any of layer effects like Drop Shadow from Layers panel. To hide any of effects included in layer style click on eyeball in front of effect name to close it. To reveal again effect click again in front of layer effect name so visible open eye will appear again.

Change settings for Layer EffectSometimes you will wont to change settings like Drop Shadow size or color. To change default defined settings for particular effect, double click on its name in Layers panel to open Layer Style dialog with tab and settings for that effect displayed.

Scale Layer EffectsWith scale layer effects I mean scale all effects included in Electro text style from once. To scale all effects from once right click on fx on the right side of Type layer or on Effects below layer thumbnail and choose Scale Effects... In Scale Layer Effects dialog which will appear type percentage in Scale text field or use slider which appears when you click on triangle on the right side of percentage number. Note: Whenever your document have resolution bigger than 72ppi Photoshop will automaticaly scale all effects to match document resolution. It is OK to scale all effects but in most cases you will need to scale only Pattern Overlay (if you are not satisfied with style appearance) what is next tip.

To hide individual effect included in style click on eyeball in front of effect name to hide it.

To change settings defined for individula effect double click on effect name in Layers panel to open Layer Style dialog.

To scale all effects included in style from once, right click on fx on the right side of Type layer and choose Scale Effects...

To show again individual layer effect included in layer style click one more time in front of effect name to appear open eye.

Scale Pattern OverlayOne of the key elements for all Electro text styles is Pattern Overlay which is always bitmap image. Bitmap images can be scaled easily but sometimes scaling will produce blurry result. Note: Whenever your document have resolution bigger than 72ppi Photoshop will automaticaly scale all effects to match document resolution. It is OK to scale all effects as explained in previous tip but in most cases you will need to scale only Pattern Overlay. Since entire collection of styles have appearance of gradient like transitions between thunder cracks, you wont loose much of appearance of styles when bitmap pattern is heavily scaled. Best appearance is to use Pattern Overlay at 100% or as it is. When scalling Pattern Overlay you can achieve different result of already defined what can be sometimes even better and more likely for you. To scale bitmap pattern used for style double click on Pattern Overlay at Layers panel. Layer Style dialog will open with Pattern Overlay tab dislayed. Below Pattern thumbnail preview drag the slider to the left or right to change scale percentage or type number manually in the text field on the right side of Scale: title.

To scale Pattern Overlay double click its name on the effects list below layer thumbnail to open Layer Style dialog.

When Layer style dialog opens with Pattern Overlay tab displayed drag slider below pattern thumbnail to change scaling percentage.
