3MICHAEL CALLAHANExecutive Vice President/CEOWife: [email protected]
In the spirit of unity, the Electric Power Associations of Mississippi wasorganized in 1943 to meet the challenges facing local electric cooperatives.
The original purpose was to form a group large enough to comply withinsurance requirements to secure group insurance for the employees of themember associations. During this early organizational period, the grouplaunched a statewide publication and established a safety program for mem-ber associations.
The founding fathers were successful in their endeavors. They laid thefoundation on which a comprehensive and diversified statewide organizationwould rise.
As the statewide associationgrew, it offered expanded servic-es. By 1963, services includedextensive work in the broad fieldof public, member and govern-ment relations; a credit union for employees of member associations; and theaddition of an economic development department.
Today, the Electric Power Associations of Mississippi is stronger and morediversified than ever. It proudly serves as the unified voice of all electricpower associations in Mississippi.
Your statewide organization continues to look for effective programs for itsmembers in an effort to find solutions to the challenges of operating an elec-tric cooperative in todays marketplace. Serving our members is the reasonthe statewide office was organized more than 70 years ago.
There is strength in unity. Nothing yet has overcome the power of thecooperative way of doing business. The Electric Power Associations ofMississippi and its professional staff will continue working on behalf of theelectric cooperative systems in Mississippi to ensure their continued success.

Ladders are great for all kinds of home improvement projects, but you want to be careful when working near power lines.
Avoid power lines at all times they can cause injury and can be fatal.

music or deep-fried catfish?Homegrown describes any number of Mississippi traditionsincluding rural electric
service. If that surprises you, consider this: The states 26 electric power associations arerooted in a homegrown initiative that lifted rural residents from the dark ages of the early 20th century into a brighter future of social and economic progress.
Without aordable and reliable electric service, we would not have a strong quality of life. Its important to the members we serve and its the way to grow and develop our communities.
Today, more than 1.8 million Mississippians enjoy the benefits of their electric powerassociation, an enterprise owned and operated bythe people it serves. Electric power associations grew up in Mississippi. We are home owned and homegrown.

Wed like to celebrate our 85th anniversary by thanking two very important groups of people. First, our customers whose continued confidence in our abilities to offer efficient and innovative vegetation management has made us what we are today. Second, our employees whose dedication and commitment to safety, productivity and responsiveness, day in and day out, truly make Asplundh the undisputed leader.
