2011 BOARD of DIRECTORS ELECTION
Dear Fellow Shareholders: Mark your calendars!
February 4, 2011The deadline for questionnaires and resumes from qualified
Shareholders interested in running for a seat on the Board of Directors and being
included in the ANC proxy materials.
May 21, 2011The Afognak Native Corporation (ANC) 2011 Annual Meeting of
Shareholders in Kodiak, Alaska. Three Board members will be elected.
To be considered for a Board seat, a candidate must be a voting Shareholder of Afognak NativeCorporation and at least 18 years of age. Additionally candidates should, in accordance with ANC
Governance Policies, be persons qualified and capable to represent the Shareholders in the governance of
ANC. Such qualifications and capabilities include:
Knowledge about Native organizations and issues, interest in serving the Native
Community, and willing and responsible enough to commit the time and study necessary
for all board duties.
Willingness to put Shareholder interests first in all Board duties and to put theCorporations interests above their own interests.
Willingness to abide by the group decisions of the Board including bylaws, policies, and
other official decisions.
Three Board members, each serving a three-year term, will be elected at the annual meeting. Directors
with terms expiring are: William Willie Hall, Denise May, and Abner Nelson, Jr. Any qualifiedShareholder interested in applying for the Board Slate may do so by submitting a questionnaire and a
resume. All candidates, whether or not chosen for the Board Slate, will be included in the proxy materials
and will be on the proxy for voting purposes provided all the required information has been submitted by
the February 4th deadline.
Questionnaires are available at the Kodiak and Anchorage ANC offices and at the ANC website
www.afognak.com. Once on the website, click the Shareholder link and then click on Forms and
then click on ANC Board Candidate Disclosure Form.
Completed questionnaires and resumes may be hand-delivered to either of the ANC offices in Anchorage
or Kodiak; they can be mailed to ANC, ATTN: Ginger Ward, Chairwoman of the Board, 3909 Arctic
Blvd., Suite 400, Anchorage, AK 99503; or they can be emailed to [email protected]. Questionnaires
and resumes must be received by 5:00 p.m. Alaska Standard Time on Friday, February 4, 2011.
