LAST MEETING - November 8, 2019 – Joey Donia; Sports Director KWQC
Ninety-seven attended on Friday….wow, what a group! We had 23 Interact students present from North Scott Junior High. Many thanks to their fearless leader, North Scott Rotarian, Jan Touney and teacher chaperone, Eugene Kreiter. The kids were selling candy bars to support their project for the GMOC orphanage in Uganda. Jim Smith, sergeant of the day, also collected $135 in fines for the kids. Guests present were Sara Diericx and Lucas Dengler, both prospective members, Nancy Case and Kandi Olson, guests of Scott Case, Pastor Peter Marty, guest of Jim Smith, Mahesh Sharma, guest of John Maxwell and Rosie Carlyle, guest of Lorraine Lynch. Two new members were welcomed by Past President Jeff Ashcraft. Ellen Bluth, transferring from Davenport Rotary, sponsored by Rich Horst and James Holt, sponsored by Dr. Brad Burt. (See front page for more info). John Maxwell told about the Apple Pie contest for November 15. He also sold 3 goodies for $300. Patrick announced that additional tickets are available for the auction….now seating 500! Everyone welcomed Joey Donia, Sports Director for KWQC Channel 6. As a teenager, Joey wanted to play sports, but his mother was all about musicals and singing with his siblings. He did play one year of High School Football as a sophomore for St. Charles North, near Chicago. He soon found out that football was not his thing. As a professional Sports Director, he has covered a Super Bowl, multiple Chicago Cubs games and the World Series. He loves watching dreams come true, as in when the Lady Lancers won the State Basketball title last season. Joey recommends that student athletes treat every game as if it is “the big game”.
The 4 Way Test Of the things we THINK SAY or DO
1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOOD WILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? 4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
