Olga Turcan

Olga Turcan is 65 years old. She lives alone

and her eyesight is very bad—she desper-

ately needs a new pair of glasses. No one

helps her aside from the ladies who bring

her a warm meal every day. She used to

have a nephew, but two years ago he got

drunk one night and was run over by a train.

We pray that although she is lonely Olga

will accept the friendship we offer her and

that she will know God’s love.

Dear Friends, as spring arrives we can see the relief in the eyes of the elderly we

care for, and hear in their voices how grateful they are to have survived the harsh

winter. We are reminded again and again how important it is to provide for these

precious people who often have no one else to care for them.

Elena Carp

This old woman has had a very hard life. About 15 years ago

one of her two daughters died and she needed to look after

her two grandchildren who were still very small. Even though

it was very hard for her to look after her grandchildren she did

the best she could for them. Years past, her grandchildren

grew up and left her behind and now she is left alone with no

one to look after her when she needs them. She is one of the

elderly people who receives food from the church in Paicu.

Sometimes we take the food to her and she is crying and tells

us again and again that she has no one to look after her.

Every time we go we pray and tell her there is a God who

loves her.

Ecaterina Malcoci

Ecaterina Malcoci was born in 1927 in Crocmaz. She is a widow who

lives alone. Her vision is very bad and because of this she is not able

to prepare her own food. Ecaterina is usually very tired and doesn’t

have the energy to do anything. The noon meal she receives every

day from our centre is the only food she has, other than a bit of tea or

bread. We are very thankful to those who donate the finances we

need to care for and feed this lady. We don't want her to starve. God

bless you.

Ilie Dumitru

Ilie Dumitru was born in 1955. He studied agriculture at

university. At the moment he has sickness in his legs. I

could not refuse his request to receive help from our

centre. He lives alone without any of the care and

support that we can offer him. His pension of 400 lei

(les than $35) a month is not enough to cover his

expenses, especially the medicine he needs. We are

currently repairing our centre and look forward to when

the work is done so that we can offer better conditions

than Ilie has even known in his life.

Stefan Stirbu

Stefan Stirbu is a 54 year old man who was

forced out of his house. In the autumn he slept

outside but when the freezing cold winter

weather arrived a man named Andrei took him

in. Andrei has problems with his legs and is re-

covering from surgery on his liver; the men take

care of one another.

They are living on the warm meal they receive

from our church every day. They welcomed us

with tears in their eyes.

Stefan’s health is not good and he urgently

needs to receive medical treatment in Chisinau;

however, he doesn’t have the money for this. Please pray with us that God will provide for all his

needs and he will know how much he is loved.

Vera Doaga

Vera is a widow who was born on 4 July 1932. She had

two children, but one of them passed away many years

ago. When she was younger, Vera was a teacher. Now

she is living alone on a pension of 600 lei per month. She

doesn’t have anyone to help her aside from the ladies who

run the elderly project at our church. Vera’s health is not

the best, but she still has to work in her garden. Vera is

Orthodox and she believes in God. She is very thankful to

God that He loves her very much.

Thank You!!

I, chef Aldra Andronachi, am 51 years old. We are so thankful

for the help you give us to be able to provide meals for the

elderly, who are also so grateful with all their hearts.

We help ten elderly people. Some of them are old men who

live by themselves. No one can make them food because of

the small pensions (ranging from about 40-45 Euros a month).

These elderly people are in need but some have no children,

or their children have left to work in other countries.

I cook the lunches from Monday to Friday.

We thank you very much on behalf of the elderly people in the town of Nisporeni.

God bless you!

Crucial Help for Those in Need

I want you to understand how important it is that I visit elderly

at home. Every day I bring an older man his lunch. He is

living in very poor conditions—his house is cold, there is no

place to take a bath, no place to wash the dishes. He is very

ill and moves very slowly. One day when I arrived he was not

there but his house was full of gas. My eyes were burning. I

opened the window to clear the air. This man needs help. He

is very glad when we bring lunch, thankful that we think of

him. It is difficult to see these elderly sleeping in poor beds,

wearing dirty clothes, and living in such conditions.
