All companies may request permission from the Go-vernment to work on bank holidays, after the Gover-

nment approved a modification to the 2018 labour calendar yester-day. Until now, companies that we-re not linked to the tourism sector had to close obligatorily 14 days a year but with the agreed modifica-tion, businesses can request a per-mit for any of these holidays with the exception of January 1, March 14, September 8 and December 25, when shops are forced to close. Alt-hough the decree approved yester-day only affects the remaining six months of 2018, it seems that the criterion will be consolidated for 2019, since Minister Jordi Cinca explained that «it is necessary to allow companies to work on bank holidays, as an exception and for reasons of justified need».

About 33% of motorcycles of the co-untry did not visit the ITV faciliti-es according to data collected since the begining of the year until May 31. From the 67% that do go, 15.26% did not pass the inspection. These are the details from the study carried out

by the Andorran Vehicle Club (ACA), the president of which, Enric Pujal, was concerned regarding the incre-ase of deadly accidents of motorists. «Some people think motorbikes are toys and we must change this» said the president. This is why a new cam-paign driven by the ITV and the ACA will allow motorbike owners to pass a free maintenance in order to «pre-vent and decrease the accident rate». Revision will begin July 1 until Setem-bre 30, Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m.

Francisco Sánchez presents his first monothematic series

Francisco Sánchez, participated at the first Biennale in 2011 (an arts organization based in Veni-ce) the only or one of the few An-dorrans to do so. Yesterday he ope-ned a sample of his ten pieces at the Mamma Maria gallery in An-dorra la Vella, at 7:30 p.m. This is

the first monothematic series he has made: the sea represented in several versions, from stormy to calm all according to the mood of Sanchez at the time of the creati-on. Before we begin to give a social sense to his works, in the Mediterra-nean in times of humanitarian cri-ses, he stated that «social criticism is very good, but I leave it to others».

A walk between these agitated seas, in contrast to the stone of the exhibition hall, makes us listen to the noise of the waves breaking against the rock, although Sanchez only shaped the water in the pictu-res «he did not do any modifications neither on the cliffs nor others thi-ngs» he clarified. According to the artist, the works stand out for the-

ir «uses and the creativness in light and dark contrasts». Contrasts that, as he explains are the result of coin-cidence or destiny, if that is what one considers to be true: «With a cloth I put the charcoal on the fa-bric prepared with a special paint and I see where the lights and sha-dows are created» from here the ar-tist adapts to the mixture of inten-sities of grays that are emerging. Highlights are the white lines, as a wave foam thathe makes with «an ordinary eraser».

The elaboration of each one of the paintings, all made in his ho-me, except the largest ones «that did not pass through the door» he sais with some humour, consists of at least three layers of charcoal and until one was not finished, he would not start another one. An at-titude that has allowed him to cap-ture different moods of black and white.

Could you say that using white represents a sense of calm? «Well it could be» he replied. Because the most powerful storms are darker.like the last one he painted. Betwe-en the sea that lets you see a perso-nal world of an artist, intense and and slighlty «chaotic» at times, the satisfaction that there are still pla-ces that give away spaces to exhibit after the shortage of art galleries in Andorra and also Barcelona; he sta-ted the following: a brief, but ple-asent stay and hopes his paintings will stay for a long time in the small country that is Andorra.
