Next month, the comú of Ca-nillo will receive an award in order to supply 15 video surveillance cameras that

will be installed in different points of the parish. The investment will cost 50,000 euros and the aim is to con-trol the entrances and exits of the dif-ferent towns in case there is a pro-blem. «We do not have any current issues with security, but when so-mething happens, the parish is very big and the idea is to have access to all the exit from the populations to check if a problem occurs» explained the Director of Finance, Marc Casal, who could not clarify whether any of the devices will also go to the Roc del Quer. In order to acquire them, the corporation agreed to make a credit supplement of 90,000 euros to provi-de a budget for the the new projects, which had already been exhausted. Wi-Fi reaches Pas de la Casa with five free connection points

Starting this Wednesday, Pas de la Ca-sa will have five free Wi-Fi connection points thanks to Andorra’s wifi ser-vice. The coverage covers the streets Major, Sant Jordi, the avinguda del Consell General and la plaça Coprín-ceps which are the main commerci-al centers of the town. The service was a demand from merchants, who are now satisfied with the arrival of the free Wi-Fi the day before Pas’s biggest party. «Pas de la Casa is one of the are-as of Andorra with a big commerci-al activity and an important touristic area, which is why we have wanted to provide the population with the free Wi-Fi service,» said the Minister

of Territorial Planning, Jordi Torres Falcó, during the inauguration cere-mony. Also attended by the mayor of Encamp, Jordi Torres Arauz, the ge-

Andorra’s wifi network was introdu-ced in 2014 in the commercial area of Meritxell and Carlemany avenue. Since the beginning of the service, it has registered 420,000 different peo-ple, 99,600 of which made use in the first four months of 2018. Compa-ring that to the «low» figures of 2017 with 210.000 users. Virtually all peo-ple who use the service are tourists, although 10% of the users are the pe-ople of the country. Andorra wifi gives a free 20 me-gabyte Internet connection for fifte-en minutes, although users can also buy a pass to be able to access high-spe-ed Internet. It is one of the few Inter-net based projects like installing 15 interactive «totems» for this summer in Sant Julià. It will offer free Wi-Fi in a radius of 100 meters each. In total, it will reach a surface of 15 kilometers, of the 60 that the parish has. H

A contest of ideas for the new Automobile Museum

Art romànic i paisatges d’Andorra is a journey through the most outstan-ding works by the artist from Badalo-na (in Barcelona) Manel Soriano. Thi-rty paintings dedicated to Romanes-que churches such as Santa Coloma, Sant Joan de Caselles or Sant Miquel d’Engolasters, exposed next to the co-llection of Romanesque art models. An art from Europe from approxima-tely 1000 AD to the rise of the Gothic style in the 12th century. Where co-lours were very striking, and most-ly primary. «The fact that my pain-tings are exposed next to the moc-kups allows people to compare them»

commented Soriano yesterday, at the same time he explained that he did not hesitate to accept the assignment when they offered him the job from the CAEE (Centre d’Art d’Escaldes-En-gordany). The exhibition opened yes-terday until September 29. Soriano shows several works of the Andorran landscape and portrays the change of seasons throughout the year. «In An-dorra you can do the painting from different angles and each time you will have a different work», explained the author. The collection is comple-ted with other landscapes of Canta-bria, Huesca and Catalonia.

Francisco Sánchez presents his first monothematic series

A sea of charcoalBY EL PERIÒDICANDORRA LA VELLA

Francisco Sánchez, participated at the first Biennale in 2011 (an arts organization based in Veni-ce) the only or one of the few An-dorrans to do so. Yesterday he ope-ned a sample of his ten pieces at the Mamma Maria gallery in An-dorra la Vella, at 7:30 p.m. This is

the first monothematic series he has made: the sea represented in several versions, from stormy to calm all according to the mood of Sanchez at the time of the creati-on. Before we begin to give a social sense to his works, in the Mediterra-nean in times of humanitarian cri-ses, he stated that «social criticism is very good, but I leave it to others».

A walk between these agitated seas, in contrast to the stone of the exhibition hall, makes us listen to the noise of the waves breaking against the rock, although Sanchez only shaped the water in the pictu-res «he did not do any modifications neither on the cliffs nor others thi-ngs» he clarified. According to the artist, the works stand out for the-

ir «uses and the creativness in light and dark contrasts». Contrasts that, as he explains are the result of coin-cidence or destiny, if that is what one considers to be true: «With a cloth I put the charcoal on the fa-bric prepared with a special paint and I see where the lights and sha-dows are created» from here the ar-tist adapts to the mixture of inten-sities of grays that are emerging. Highlights are the white lines, as a wave foam thathe makes with «an ordinary eraser».

The elaboration of each one of the paintings, all made in his ho-me, except the largest ones «that did not pass through the door» he sais with some humour, consists of at least three layers of charcoal and until one was not finished, he would not start another one. An at-titude that has allowed him to cap-ture different moods of black and white.

Could you say that using white represents a sense of calm? «Well it could be» he replied. Because the most powerful storms are darker.like the last one he painted. Betwe-en the sea that lets you see a perso-nal world of an artist, intense and and slighlty «chaotic» at times, the satisfaction that there are still pla-ces that give away spaces to exhibit after the shortage of art galleries in Andorra and also Barcelona; he sta-ted the following: a brief, but ple-asent stay and hopes his paintings will stay for a long time in the small country that is Andorra. HERITATGE3The Minister Spokesman, Jordi Cinca, could not confirm the re-instatement of Xavier Llovera in the Heritage department next January, an information that he advanced in the edition of Bondia. «I hope that this is the case and that he has returned be-cause he has spent many years outsi-de the country, where he has develo-ped remarkable projects and we want him back» said Cinca in reference to the work of Llovera, among others, the Museum of Archeology of Catalo-nia that underwent a new reinterpre-tation under his direction. Alos, the Heritage Department has accumula-ted a series of alleged cases of malprac-tice in recent months.

A new adventure has begun. BC MoraBanc Andorra starts a new era with Ibon Navarro on the bench af-

ter being officially presented on Wednesday in Andorra. The UCAM Murcia’s former coach has signed a two-season contract with Mora-Banc, who ended up being sixth in the regular phase of the Liga Ende-sa and will have David Eudal and Paco Vázquez as assistant coaches.

Gorka Aixas, president of the en-tity, explained that «he represents the beginning of a new cycle that we hope will be the same or more successful than the previous one». «It is a very important change for the club, after eight years with the same coach, who has brought us from LEB Plata to a Play-off of the Liga ACB. We are in a different sce-nario. We tried to find someone as ambitious as us», he commented.

For his part, the sports direc-tor of the entity, Francesc Solana, emphasized that in front of the new scenario «we needed someone young with experience and ambiti-on». «Ibon is exactly what we were looking for, we had a good feeling from the beginning and thought we had to bet on him». He also re-vealed that «David Walker has an offer on the table», Andrew Albici «we still don’t know nothing» and that «we will decide whether Prze-mek Karnowski continues or not».

33 The decision comes right after Diego Ocampo’s personal decisi-on to leave the club.

33 Joan Peñarroya is an old fri-end of the Manresa club. He ke-eps the club’s record of scored points from back when he was a player, 2,738. Moreover, his son plays on the lower divisions of the club. Therefore, it seemed fore-seeable.

«I take possession with enthusi-asm and desire, we have tried to cre-ate a board of members that could be compatible in all technical, financi-al, legal and public relations fields with people that are well prepared», said Pintat. «I would tell skiers to ke-ep calm because we will do a good job, we will do it for something that is very important to the country, we really want everything to go well», he added. is an attractive project for a coach like myself, who wants to continue improving», he said.

Therefore, Navarro’s intention is to keep the group: «MoraBanc is a brave team and I think that a co-

ach, besides having his own style, has to know how to adapt to the players he has». However, he will put his stamp, «always respecting the characteristics of the team».

Navarro was very enthusias-

When the proposal arrived, I had other options, but I chose this one for the desire to grow». «I ha-ve no pressure because I have trai-ned Manresa, Baskonia and Mur-cia when their coaches left and they all were in a very good positi-on. Therefore, after this cycle, the pressure becomes a challenge», he concluded. H
