ANNUAL MEETING

Thanks to the 65 residents who attended the Annual Meeting on Friday morning, March 7th. The meeting began with coffee, tea and refreshments for a half hour of “meet & greet” with neighbors. President Carl Schuster moved the agenda along with dispatch. Treasurer Wendell Byram reviewed the 2013 financial reports with understandable explanations. Each Committee Chair highlighted their year’s activities. Road committee Chair Jim Perkins reviewed the condition of our roads – regular maintenance over the years has kept them in good condition. The annual meeting proved once again, it’s great to live in CSE II. Carl Schuster, Bill Copeland and Nancy Puckett serve on the Executive Board of the Green Valley Council. Paul Rathjen represents CSE II on the council’s Board of Representatives (GVC’s governing body). As Executive Board members, Carl, Bill and Nancy are in a position to see the operation of other HOAs. They will tell you that CSE II ranks among the top HOAs in Green Valley … it is well run, and enjoys strong support and involvement from it’s homeowners. Mark your calendar now for next year’s annual meeting, the first Friday in March. Join your friends and neighbors in supporting those who give of their time and talent in making CSE II such a delightful neighborhood in which to live.

CSE II SOCIAL COMMITTEE Many CSEII neighbors enjoyed the annual Valentine's Potluck at Canoa Hills on February 1st. There was food aplenty and we all had a great social time. Thanks to the Social Committee for another wonderful event. The committee would like to thank Gloria & Bob Leedle for all the years of service to the Committee. We will miss you and hope to see you back in the future. Welcome Dee Dee Early to the committee and thanks for you enthusiastic response.

ARCHITECURAL COMMITTEE

TRIMMING/PRUNING Even though it seems we have been in perpetual spring, it is time to think about completing the winter garden chores, especially pruning! Have you trimmed your trees and shrubs? Remember to allow for growth so your plants do not rise above the parapet—the place where the roof comes down to meet the sidewall.

PAINT COLORS Complete color chart is on the cseii.com website. But here is a quick summary: • Briar is the darkest color and is appropriate for porch under hang and

beams. • Mesa Tan is the next darkest color and is for wood siding. • Cliff Brown is the tan color that is good for stucco along with Spanish

White. Garage doors may be Mesa Tan, Cliff Brown or Spanish White. All Iron Gates should be black if they are visible from the street. Original paint colors are from Dunn Edwards. Most hardware stores will mix paint to match the appropriate colors if you give them a sample.

NIGHT LIGHTS ON THE GARAGE Have a neighbor check on your night light to be sure the bulb has not burned out.

A GORY NIGHT ON GARZOTA Monday night - January 13 ….. The coyotes were yipping up a storm; Rocket (Brink’s dog) was going crazy, waking John & Laurel. John got up to quiet him down, but didn’t note the time.

Tuesday morning - January 14 ….. Phyllis Sucher was awakened by the coyotes; she noted the time as 2:00 AM. Bill Copeland went out to get the newspaper at about 5:30 AM. The moonlight revealed a long streak of white on the street in front of Jim & Jeanne Campbell’s house, but Bill did not walk over to investigate… he’d wait for the sun to come up.

A herd of Javelina regularly move through the area at night. The herd includes two babies, and Javelina are very protective of their young. It is assumed that the babies caught the attention of the coyotes. The confrontation began at the north end of Garzota, near the Reyeceulo intersection; rocks along the west side of the street were disturbed all the way down the block, and kicked out on the street at three different points.

The long white streak on the street was fur, along with a mess of blood and guts. The fur was gray and white, and soft – coyote fur. A car was parked overnight in the parking area; more blood and guts at the front tire and after car was moved, under the car.

When Jim and Bill began to clean up the street John Brink came down, Peter Martin came over. Others gathered to add their two cents.

While the cleanup was under way, John found the carcass of a coyote in the common area above Garzota, between his house and Wera Clough’s. One of the Javelina must have killed an overly aggressive coyote. Since Javelin do not eat meat, who ate the coyote?

Jeanne Campbell took the picture of mighty hunter Jim holding up the carcass. Remember, no one witnessed the deed, so this account is all conjecture.

NEW PREFERRED VENDOR PROGRAM

Announcing … a new-to-Green Valley referral network designed to link homeowners with trustworthy businesses and service providers so that both benefit from jobs well done.

What is the GVR Preferred Vendor Program? – it’s neighbors helping neighbors by referring vendors and service providers who have consistently done a good job. The program conducts a preliminary background check and regular satisfaction interviews with clients to track their satisfaction with the work of listed providers. The program assists Green Valley area residents in cutting through ad clutter to find dependable providers to meet residents’ needs. The program is NOT a recommendation or a satisfaction guarantee – it’s designed to share referrals about vendors and service providers who have a positive track record. This NEW service is open to residents in all Green Valley Council member HOAs and POAs.

For Homeowners – need a product or service? Home repairs? Landscape maintenance? Painting? Transportation? Healthcare? You name the product or service…GVC’s Preferred Vendor Program can assist you in finding qualified, trustworthy vendor or service provider. Referral is free to GVC member residents. For information or vendor recommendation call 520-444-6760 or email Lynda at [email protected]
