most likely to occur in youth baseball, along with first-aid treatment for
each condition. Finally, the manual includes a description of the
procedure to follow for medical incidents along with the required forms
for insurance and league incident report form. Each manager will be
provided with a manual at the preseason manager safety meeting. See
the Safety Officer description for more information.

Baseball. EDHLL’s highest priority is the safety of our kids. EDHLL is committed to
encouraging and providing a safe environment for our kids. In order to succeed
we need your commitment to make safety priority number one.
The purpose of this manual is to provide important safety information to El
Dorado Hills Little League. Please take the time to review the manual.
Remember that safety rests with all of us, the volunteers of El Dorado Hills Little
League. Prevention is the key to reducing accidents and injuries. Always use
common sense, never doubt what children tell you, and report all accidents
when they occur. We need your assistance, and guidance to continue making
EDHLL a great program.

Safety Officer Responsibilities Geoff Gomez is the Safety Officer for EDHLL, and is a member of the EDHLL
Board of Directors.
The significant part of this position is the responsibility to develop and implement
the League’s safety program as well as review everything the League does with
an eye toward safety. Safety is of primary concern when placing players in the
appropriate skill level, for theirs and other players’ safety.
The Safety Officer is also responsible for the following:
Attends the District 54 safety meetings, and provides a specific safety focus
from the Board level.
Ensures EDHLL maintains a copy of League insurance policy
Maintains and follows up on all injury reports.
The League Safety Officer coordinates safety/first-aid training for all
managers and coaches, provides first-aid kits for each team and field, and
maintains a stock of first-aid supplies in these kits.
The Safety Officer also coordinates background screening of
manager/coach candidates and other EDHLL volunteers.
Ensures that each team manager receives its Safety Plan Manual, its First-Aid
Kit and ice packs at the beginning of the season.
Ensures concession stand manager and concession stand is provided with
Safety Manual, first-aid kits and food handling precautions/concession stand
tips.
Performs analysis of playing fields and facilities with the Fields Maintenance
Officer and other Field /Safety Committee members and documents and
communicates with Board areas requiring attention.
Acts immediately and works collaboratively with the EDHLL Board and EDH
Community Services District (CSD) towards resolving unsafe or hazardous
conditions when a situation has been brought to his/her attention.
Tracks all injuries and near misses in order to identify injury trends.
Ensures that safety is a monthly Board Meeting topic, and encourages
experienced individuals to share ideas on improving safety.

The following list provides a timetable for tasks that need to be completed by
the Safety Officer:
December/January
Gather up the first aid kits and restock in preparation for next season. Ensure
a first aid kit is located at each field. (T-Ball through Seniors). Ice packs tend
to be the most utilized first aid item. Please keep back up supply in stock.
Update the Safety Plan Manual with names of new Little League Officers and
their contact phone numbers.
Coordinate Field safety survey with VP Operations, Field Manager. Provide
the Field Manager last year’s survey and a fresh field survey form.
January/February
Arrange for printing of the Safety Manual.
Submit a Qualified Safety Plan Registration Form with the Safety Plan Manual
Coordinate Safety Clinic/orientation for managers and coaches.
Review the Safety manual during Safety Clinic/orientation with managers
and coaches.
Explain the procedure for completing accident report forms.
Emphasize the first-aid training for most common injuries including:
Concussion Protocol
Hit by Pitch (blunt trauma)
Player Collisions
Bloody Nose
Bee Stings
Dehydration/Heat Exhaustion
Obtain a signature from the manager of each team confirming receipt of
safety training/orientation, a safety manual, medical release forms, and a
basic first aid kit.
Attend District 54 President / Safety Officer meeting, January 10, 2018.
Update League Safety Plan Manual and upload 2018 ASAP safety plan; and
access and update the Facility Survey (ASAP Requirement No. 8) and submit
to the Little League® Data Center by March. 1, 2018.
Once the completed ASAP Safety Plan document has been uploaded, you will need to confirm the 15 ASAP Requirements. All requirements are mandatory; however, they can be completed in any order. Many of the requirements will ask for a page number in your ASAP Safety Plan document corresponding to a certain topic, while other requirements request confirmation of an activity by your league.
Note that Requirement 14 (Provide Registration Data) will automatically check your league’s registration data before it can be completed. You will not be able to submit

your league’s ASAP Safety Plan until registration data for the current season is provided by your league. For leagues using DICK’S Team Sports HQ powered by Blue Sombrero for online registration, that information will be automatically sent to Little League International, helping to fulfill Regulation IV(g) and ASAP Requirement 14.
Once all 15 ASAP requirements are completed, you will be asked to digitally sign (by typing your name) and submit your ASAP Safety Plan forte current year. Your plan will be reviewed within one to two (1-2) business days.
Review field survey for possible updates. The survey will be completed with
input from Fields Coordinator, President and Vice President. Revise and
upload to the Little League® Data Center at the beginning of the season.
Due March 1, 2018. See the latest issue of Little League safety awareness
newsletter for areas for improvement. Completing this plan on time qualifies
League for a discount on its insurance!
Submit an idea the League implemented to help promote or improve our
safety plan (new for 2018)
Perform background check on managers, coaches, team parents and other
EDHLL volunteers.
Little League International provides every local Little League in the U.S. with
125 free criminal background checks of volunteers in each league. The local
league incurs cost for background checks once the maximum is reached.
Volunteer forms will be collected at forms processing.
February/March
Distribute first aid kits and ice packs to each field.
Remind/ensure League President submits league player registration data or
player roster data and coach and manager data are be submitted via the
Little League Data Center at www.LittleLeague.org.
March-June
Maintain first aid kits throughout the season.
Coordinate with division managers (if possible) to inspect the kits at least
once a week.
Ice packs may need to be replenished more frequently. Ice packs will be
provided to each manager and coach. In addition, ice packs will be
located at each field.
Maintain injury report file. Follow-up on injuries.

The team’s conduct as well as observing the official rules of the league.
The safety of his/her players. He/She is also ultimately responsible for the actions of the coaches.
Always have a first aid kit, safety manual and each player’s medical release form on hand during practices and games. A copy of the Medical Release Form is provided in the Appendix.
Attending mandatory coach’s clinics, first aid training and any other meeting required by EDHLL. Mandatory meetings will be communicated prior to season and conducted by El Dorado Hills Little League or other outside agencies, such as District 54.
Communicating the basics of safe play with his/her team prior to their first practice.
Encouraging players to hydrate (bring full water bottles) and protect themselves from the sun (long sleeves and sunscreen), especially as the weather begins to get warmer.
Encouraging players to wear proper equipment, e.g., protective cups and supporters, during practices and games.
Most importantly provide all players with a fun experience.
Mandatory Pre-practice/Pre-game Checklist
MANAGER/COACH

Walk field checking for debris and foreign objects
Inspect helmets, bats, catcher’s gear and cleats
Make sure a First-Aid Kit is on hand/readily available
Check conditions of fences, backstops, bases, mound, warning track
Make sure a working and charged telephone is readily available
Ensure players engage in proper warm up drills
All helmets must meet NOCSAE specifications and standards.
For the safety of the players all helmets must fit properly.
All catchers’ masks must have a “dangling” type throat protector and helmet. These must be worn during games, practices and while a pitcher is warming up.
Bats with dents, or that are fractured in any way, must be discarded.
Only Little League approved equipment will be used during practices/ games.

Replace damaged equipment immediately by notifying the EDHLL Equipment Coordinator.
Make sure that the players respect the equipment that is issued.
Conditioning & Stretching Conditioning and stretching serve important roles in preventing injury and
accidents. It is vital that each manager/coach develop into their practice plans
a routine that begins with proper warm up drills and stretching.
The stretching and contracting of muscles before an athletic activity
improves general control of movements, coordination and alertness.
The drills also help develop the strength and stamina needed by young
athletes to compete while minimizing accident exposure.
A. Tips for Warm-up & Stretching
The purpose of stretching is to increase flexibility within the various muscles
groups and prevent tearing from overexertion.
Stretching should never be done forcefully, but rather in a gradual
manner to encourage looseness and flexibility.
B. Warm-up
Why? To increase heat throughout the body
To reduce risk of tearing or straining muscles by increasing their
suppleness
How? 2-3 minute jog, to raise a light sweat (complete before stretching)
C. Stretching
Why? To increase flexibility and freedom of movement
To reduce muscle tension
To reduce the risk of muscle and tendon injuries

Warm up Ideas
Warm up routines may vary based upon coaching experience and preference.
Here are some warm up ideas:
A. Core Slow jog around perimeter of fence/field
Jumping jacks (3 count x 10)
Forward lunge twist towards front leg
Backward lunge hands high
Quad stretch – grab right ankle with right hand and pull up and back,
reach up and forward with left hand, repeat on left side; up and back
Knee Hugs - Hamstring stretch – walk and pull knee up into chest (left
then right; up and back)
Back pedal up, jog back (repeat 2 times)
Slide to side up, slide back facing same direction (repeat 2 times)
Karaoke up and back (repeat 2 times)
B. Arms (glove in throwing hand) Small circles (30 forward and 30 backward)
Large circles (30 forward and 30 backward)
Scissor arms - arms up and down out front (30 count)
Fly arms - arms up and down at sides (30 count)
Sideways Figure 8 – throwing arm extended out front of body (10
forward and 10 back)
IX Stretching Examples:
1. Shoulder
This one is very beneficial for pitcher, but should be
used for all players. Move your arm across your chest
and with the other arm grab the elbow and pull the
arm so you feel the muscle stretching in the shoulder.
Hold for 10-15 seconds.

2. Triceps
Reach back like you have to scratch your back right
below your neck. With the other hand reach around
the back of your head and grab your elbow and pull
down on the elbow. Hold for 10-15 seconds.
3. Groin
Take a big step forward then lean towards the front
foot, leaving the back leg at an angle. Rest your
forearms on the front leg. Alternate legs. Hold for
10-15 seconds.
This stretch can be done by sitting down and
pulling the sole of each foot together. Hold for 10-
15 seconds.
4. Hamstring
There are 3 different positions for this stretch.
1. Reach down and touch the ground in front of you.
2. Reach and touch the ground between your feet.
3. Reach a little further back between your legs
behind you.
Hold each one for 10-15 seconds.

5. Thigh
If needed, use a partner for this stretch. While
standing upright, bend one leg back grabbing your
foot. Use your partner to help you balance.
Alternate legs.
Hold each one for 10-15 second.
6. Leg and lower back
Sit down put one leg straight out and the other leg
should be bent in towards the out stretched leg.
Take the opposite hand from the out stretched and
try to grab your toes. Alternate legs; hold each one
for 10-15 seconds.
X. Hydration Good nutrition is important for young athletes. Sometimes the most
important nutrient needed is water, especially when they’re physically
active. When children are physically active, their muscles generate heat
thereby increasing their body temperature. As their body temperature
rises, their cooling mechanism – sweat – kicks in. When sweat evaporates,
the body is cooled. Unfortunately, children get hotter than adults during
physical activity and their body’s cooling mechanism is not as efficient as
adults. If liquids aren’t replaced, children can become overheated. We
usually thinks about dehydration in the summer months when hot
temperatures shorten the time it takes for children to become
overheated. But keeping children well hydrated is just as important in the
winter months. Additional clothing worn in the colder weather makes it
difficult for sweat to evaporate, so the body does not cool as quickly.

Whether its January or July, thirst is not an indicator of fluid needs.
Therefore, children must be encouraged to drink fluids even when they
don’t feel thirsty.
Managers and coaches should schedule water breaks every 15 to 30
minutes during practices on hot days, and should encourage players to
drink between every inning during games.
XI. Volunteer Applications All managers, coaches and volunteers are required to complete a 2018
Little League Volunteer Application form. These applications are used to
provide background and experience information used for manager
selection.
The Safety Officer is responsible performing background checks for all
volunteers per Little League guidelines for possible sex offenders and
pedophiles. Little League International will provide every local Little
League in the U.S. with 125 free criminal background checks of volunteers
in each league.
A Volunteer Application Form is included in the Appendix of the Safety
Manual.
XII. Fundamentals Training
The Minors, AAA and Majors Commissioners in conjunction with Vice
President of Operations are responsible for coordinating our clinics and
providing training material to our coaches. El Dorado Hills Little League
holds several clinics for coaches, players, and umpires on fundamental
baseball skills, e.g., warming up, throwing, catching, hitting, pitching, base
running, sliding, rules interpretation, and umpiring. These clinics are
coordinated with the Fall Ball and regular season schedule, and are put
on by ex-professional baseball players, high school and college coaches.
El Dorado Hills Little League also actively participates in player, coach,
and umpire training programs sponsored by District 54.
In 2018, El Dorado Hills Little League Managers and Coaches are invited to
attend mandatory manager and coach training at McBean Park - 65
McBean Park Drive Lincoln, CA on Saturday, Feb. 24, 8:30am-4:00pm to
support our players’ safety and coaches’ development.

District 54 and District 5 are sponsoring a mandatory Managers and
Coaches Clinic on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018 at McBean Park, located at
65 McBean Park Drive, Lincoln, CA 95648
EDHLL 2018 Safety Manual is due to be uploaded to the Little League®
Data Center by January 30, 2018.
XIII. First Aid Training
Player safety is the most important topic of discussion at our preseason
managers/coaches meeting. District 54 managers and coaches must
attend a mandatory Managers and Coaches Clinic on Saturday, Feb. 24,
2018 at McBean Park, 8:30am-4:00pm located at 65 McBean Park Drive,
Lincoln, CA 95648 at which safety training will be provided to district
managers and coaches.
CONCUSSION PROTOCOL: The State of California requires all
coaches/managers and administrators (board members and umpires) of
youth sports to complete a concussion training. EDHLL requires
manager/coaches and the Board of Directors to complete Heads Up
Concussion In Youth Sports provided by the Center Disease Control and
successfully pass the concussion evaluation quiz. This training is required
to be completed each year. The course is located on line at:

EDHLL provides all parents with Heads Up Concussion Sheet and has
players complete the concussion acknowledgement form.
A coach should always remove a player from practice or play when a
concussion is suspected. “When in doubt, sit them out.”
After a player is removed from the field of play due to a suspected
concussion, the decision about when to return to the field can only be
made by a health care professional qualified to make such a decision.
Therefore, managers must require a doctor’s note clearing the player
before he/she is allowed to return to practice/play again.
Some of the most common injuries associated with Little League Baseball
are listed below along with their treatment.

A. Bloody Nose To control a nosebleed have the victim lean forward and pinch
the nostrils together.
Place ice pack on back of neck to help shrink blood vessels,
which will help stop the bleeding.
B. Bee Stings
Some people are highly sensitive to bee stings and may show signs of an
allergic reaction.
Always call 530-647-5250 if an allergic reaction is suspected.
For moderate symptoms, try to remove the stinger by gently
scraping with a fingernail or business card.
Place an ice pack on the sting.
C. Dehydration/Heat Exhaustion Have patient lie in a cool, shaded area and elevate their feet.
Give cool water or electrolyte solution every 15 minutes.
Patient should rest until they feel well enough.
D. Broken Teeth If the tooth is broken in half, save the broken portion to bring to
the dental office.
Control the bleeding in the mouth by gently biting on a towel.
This will also help stabilize the tooth.
IMMEDIATELY transport the patient and the tooth to the dentist.
Each manager is responsible for maintaining copies of the standard Little
League Medical information and release form for each member of their
team. We encourage managers to have parents include a cell phone
number as well as their home number, and contact information for their
family dentist in case of dental emergency. Each manager is required to
have these forms with the team during every practice and game.
Managers are strongly encouraged to conduct a pre-season team
meeting with the parents of their players to clarify behavior and
communication expectations of players and parents and to remind
parents of the code of conduct for parents and players in an effort to
minimize potential conflicts. Many parent issues are easily avoided with a

good preseason parent meeting where the manager clearly states
expectations for players and parents, and provides for a brief question
and answer time.
XIV. Pre-game Field Inspections
All of the fields El Dorado Hills Little League uses are provided and
maintained by El Dorado Hills Community Services District (CSD). The fields
used by all divisions which include TBall, A, AA, AAA, Major, 50/70, Juniors
and Seniors divisions are maintained by the El Dorado Hills Community
Service District and EDHLL. The grass on these fields is cut twice per week
and the infields are prepared for us Monday through Friday. Additionally,
the managers and coaches walk the field before each game, and our
umpires inspect the field before each Major and Junior game. If any issues
are found with the field, they are promptly reported to Field Coordinator
of El Dorado Hills Little League.
XV. Facility Survey
Mike Sullivan is our Fields Coordinator.
The Field Coordinator is responsible for reporting all field repairs and
improvements to El Dorado Hills Community Services District. An extensive
review of our fields is completed annually to assess repairs and
improvements. Our projects for this year included:
T-Ball Field: William Brooks Elementary school is where our T-Ball field is
located. EDHLL is working with EDH CSD to replace the grass infield with
an all dirt infield. T-Ball games may also be held at CSD East (all grass
field beyond in soccer area beyond fence)
A Field: EDHLL will utilize CSD North and CSD South for its A Division and,
on occasion, Silva Valley (as needed for overflow).
AA Field: EDHLL will utilize CSD North and Oak Meadow East and on
occasion Silva Valley School.
AAA Field: Currently we use Valley View, Oak Meadow East and Oak
Meadow West. Valley View has a mesh home run fence installed and
Oak Meadow (East and West) has a home run fence with the yellow
safety cap is installed at by EDH CSD. We will work with them again this
year to maintain these fields. Deputy Jeff Mitchell Memorial Field will
also be used by AAA on occasion for Friday/Saturday Night games.
Major Field: One of our Majors fields is New York Creek (CSD East). At
the CSD East field EDH CSD will again install and remove the temporary
mesh home run fence. Another one of our Majors Fields is Deputy Jeff

This field will be utilized as a Majors and AAA field. EDHLL will be working
with EDH CSD to maintain this field. Deputy Jeff Mitchell Memorial Field
will have a concessions stand. EDHLL is working with EDH CSD to
address concerns and develop a solution to the steep rocky potentially
dangerous hillside behind the backstop bleachers.
50/70 (Intermediate) Field: The designated 50/70 field is New York
Creek (CSD East). At the CSD East field EDH CSD will install and remove
the temporary mesh home run fence.
Junior/Senior Field: (Sellwood Field at Bass Lake Park) In the past five
years we (EDHLL and EDH CSD) have raised the backstop to minimize
the loss of foul balls and help protect the fans, installed a sun screen on
backstop to help protect left side of field from bright sun in late
afternoon, installed break away bases, in-field renovation (new dirt
and sod), and placed bleachers behind renovated backstop. We
continue to contract with EDH CSD to install and remove the
temporary home run fence, including the yellow safety cap.
The Facility Survey Form for 2018 was submitted on line and is included in
the Appendix.
XVI. Concessions
The Concessions Coordinator positon is currently vacant.
EDHLL will be offering food, snacks and drinks from a concession stand
located at the Deputy Jeff Mitchell Memorial Field and, on occasion,
portable stands for all other fields.
XVII. Equipment Inspection
Larry Oreskes is the Equipment Coordinator.
The Equipment Manager is responsible for:
Inspecting all equipment before the season starts and ordering new
equipment.
Additionally, each manager is required to inspect his/her team’s
equipment upon initial receipt of the equipment as well as before each

practice and game. Any dented bats, cracked helmets, worn batting
tees, or worn catchers equipment shall be removed from the
equipment bag and brought to the attention of the Equipment
Manager for discarding and replacement.
Additionally, umpires inspect equipment before every game at the
minor through senior levels.
Managers and coaches are instructed to contact the equipment
manager directly for new/replacement equipment and baseballs.
An inventory of all equipment shall be conducted prior to distribution
for the season and after the equipment return at end of season. A
sample inventory sheet can be found in the Appendix.
Equipment
“Knee Savers” will be provided to those teams whose managers want
them for the safety and comfort of their catchers.
All helmets are inspected and must meet NOCSAE specifications and
standards.
All bats must meet Little League requirements per division. Manager is
responsible for checking team equipment before practices and games
All catchers’ masks will be equipped with a “dangling” type throat
protector and catchers helmet.
Only official Little League equipment and balls will be issued for use
during practices and games.
Reduced impact balls will be provided for use for T-ball (level 1) & A -
AA (level 5)
Generally, where needed, EDH CSD will provided sunscreens for the
open dugouts to help shade the players from the intense summer heat.
Equipment Checkout and Return
At the start of every Little League season, every team manager issued
equipment will be required to sign-out his/hers team equipment. It will be
the responsibility of every manager/coach to maintain their team’s
equipment during the season. With this comes teaching the players to
respect the equipment. If at any time during the season a problem arises
with the equipment i.e. (Broken helmet or catchers gear) notify the
equipment manager for replacement. Once the season has ended a
date will be set for equipment return. Prior to returning the equipment all
managers/coaches shall clean out their equipment bag and have it
ready to turn in at the specified date set by the Equipment Manager. A
checkout sheet is located in the appendix.

XVIII. Accident/Injury Reporting
Managers and coaches are instructed about accident/injury reporting
procedures during the preseason Safety Clinic. This year’s mandatory
safety safety training will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018 at McBean
Park, 8:30am-4:00pm located at 65 McBean Park Drive, Lincoln, CA 95648.
a) What to report
Managers are instructed to complete an Incident/Injury Tracking Report
Form (Player Injury Form) for each situation where a player, manager,
coach, umpire, or volunteer must leave practice or game for medical
reasons. The Incident/Injury Tracking Report Form can be found on EDHLL
website under the forms section:

b) When to report
NOTICE: All injuries must be reported to the Safety Officer of EDHLL within 24 hours of the incident.
Managers are responsible for completing the Incident/Injury Tracking Report (see Appendix D) and are required to give this form to the Safety Officer within 24 hours of an incident. The Safety Officer will maintain the original/copy on file. If an accident required professional medical attention, parents of the injured player are required to complete an accident claim form. See Appendix E. This form must be completed by parents (if claimant is under 19 years of age) and a league official, and forwarded to Little League Headquarters within 20 days of the accident.
c) EDHLL Managers and Safety Officer Reporting Responsibilities
The Safety Officer maintains a file of all incident reports, and within 24
hours of receiving the EDHLL Incident/Injury Tracking Report Form, the
EDHLL Safety Officer will follow up with the parents of the injured player
and;
Verify the information received
Obtain any other information deemed necessary
Check on the status of the injured party
If a player is injured and requires medical attention above and beyond
basic first aid, i.e., injury requires doctor’s visit, then managers should
require parents of injured player to provide doctor’s written permission to

return to practice or games. Managers, as a part of our email group, will
be strongly encouraged to report ALL incidents, no matter how minor.
Safety first! An Incident/Injury Tracking Report Form is included at the end
of the Safety Manual in the Appendix.
XIX. Procedures for Medical Emergency Calls
The most important help that you can provide a victim that has been
seriously injured is to call for professional medical help. Make the call
quickly, preferably from a cell phone near the injured person. If this is not
possible, send someone else to make the call from a nearby telephone.
Be sure that you or another caller follows these important steps.
Dial 530-647-5250 from a cell phone
Give the dispatcher the necessary information
What type of emergency – ex: baseball injury, fire, fall, etc.?
Your exact location, including city or town
The caller’s name
The condition of the injured person ex: unconsciousness, chest pain,
severe bleeding, etc.
What help is being provided (first aid)
Don’t hang up until the dispatcher tells you to. The EMS dispatcher
may be able to tell you how to best care for the victim.
Continue to care for the victim until professional help arrives
Appoint someone to go to the street and look for the Fire Dept. and
Ambulance
XX. First-aid Kits Each team is issued a basic first aid kit, which includes:
band aids,
gauze pads,
gauze wrap,
medical tape and
ice packs.
Each shed will contain extra first aid supplies within a red bag to be hung
at eye level. Additional ice packs are kept at each field in the field box.
Ice packs are to be used for injuries and not for icing down a pitchers arm
after he has pitched in a game. If a pitchers arm is to be iced down after
he has thrown, then it is up to that teams Manager/Coach to provide the
ice. It is recommended that a small cooler be brought to the field for this
purpose. Managers are instructed that they can get more first-aid supplies
from the Safety Officer when needed.

XXI. Rule Enforcement
Managers are subject to random inspections of equipment and medical
release forms, as well as ensuring appropriate dugout behavior. The
league Safety Officer, President, or other District Official, may perform
these random inspections.
Managers are responsible for ensuring players are properly
equipped.
All fields shall be equipped with breakaway bases per Little League
guidelines.
Managers and Coaches are reminded that they are not allowed to
catch pitchers during practice or games (Rule 3.09)
Managers and coaches are not allowed to sit on buckets outside of
dugout during games (managers and coaches must remain in
dugout during play unless they are designated base coaches)
Players are not allowed to have bats in hand while in the dugout
Catchers must wear a throat protector regardless of type of mask
worn
Rule 1.16 – Helmets must have a non-glare surface and cannot be
mirror-like in nature.

Appendix H - Concession Stand Rules and Safety Tips
Concession Stand Rules
1. Adult supervision must be in effect at all times.
2. Only adults are allowed to operate or be near the grill.
3. Outdoor grills will be placed in an area away from spectators.
4. All volunteers will wash their hands on a regular basis. (Hand Sanitizer available)
5. Un-wrapped food must be handled with paper towels or plastic wrap.
6. No glass containers of any type will be sold at the concession stand.
7. Everything must be cleaned up and put away at the end of each shift.
8. A complete First-aid Kit will be kept in the concession stand.
9. A fire extinguisher shall be kept in the concession stand for emergency use.
10. A list of emergency phone numbers will be posted in the concession stand.

Appendix M – Lightning Safety
Lightning Safety and Procedures
El Dorado Hills Little League follows Little League policy regarding lightning safety with the following guidelines: 1. Watch for developing or approaching storms; use all resources (web, TV, radio, etc.) to determine the risk level.
2. At the first sound of thunder or visible lightning - CLEAR THE FIELD! A thunderstorm can cast lightning up to 10 miles from the edge of the storm, or about as far as the sound thunder can carry. WHAT TO DO:
Go to a large enclosed building, if one is nearby
Go to metal-top cars, with windows rolled up, if no enclosed building is available
Complete a check of the facility for anyone still outdoors WHAT NOT TO DO:
Don’t allow players to remain in the dugouts or spectators to stay in the stands
Don’t carry metal items (like bats) or walk beside metal fences
Don’t go to an open-sided shelter; it is not adequate and should not be used. 3. Wait at least 30 minutes after the last lightning strike/peal of thunder before returning to play
4. Do not leave facility until directed; wait at designated location(s) at field until the game is postponed or cancelled.
5. Make sure all players are accounted for and leaving with approved person(s) If someone is struck by lightning:
Lightning victims do not carry an electrical charge, are safe to handle, and need immediate medical attention.
Call for help. Have someone call 9-1-CPR if necessary.
If possible, move the victim to a safer place. For more information and tips on lightning safety, visit NOAA’s website http://www.lightningsafety.noaa.gov/tips.shtml Parents, coaches, umpires and all volunteers - please help enforce this policy. Our kids’ lives may depend on you!
