RIP condenser bushing type EKTO

DesignIntended for the direct connection of power transformers

to oil filled cable boxes, the type EKTO has an insulating

body of resin impregnated paper (RIP). The condenser core

is made of special paper epoxy resin vacuum-impregnated

paper. Conductive layers made of aluminium foil are inserted

between these paper layers for grading the electric field.

Thanks to their good conductivity, optimum voltage distribution

is guaranteed even in case of rapid voltage changes.

The insulating body is fixed to the one-piece flange. A system

of multiple-sealing made of oil-resistant O-ring seals is employed

between the insulating body and the bushing flange.

All bushings have a test tap connecting lead at the flange.

The test tap is led through as insulated wire and screwed to

the flange plate for grounding. Upon customer request this

wire can be led through an external test tap fixed to

the transformer tank (see drawing “external test tap”).

The bushings have two M12 earthing holes and threaded lifting

holes on the pitch circle diameter of the transformer side flange

plate as a standard.

All bushings can be provided with a detachable cable or conductor

bolt. The connecting surfaces on the conductor bolt can be designed

as round or flat terminal connection. The central bore of the bushing

can be vented via the vent screw at the front of the cable or conduc-

tor bolt. C.t. accommodations in steps of 100 mm up to 500 mm

are available.

Standards and customized modifcations All bushings are designed to comply with IEC Standard 60137 and

tested accordingly. Bushings that comply with IEEE Standard or other

national regulations are available on request.

The types specifed in this brochure represent standard versions.

Modifcations are possible, but may result in changes of price and

delivery times and must therefore be specifically requested.

The technical designs of these bushing types are documented in

comprehensive delivery specifications.

This flange has an additional pitch circle diameter on the cable side.

Recommended installation of screen electrodes

Type series EKTO – Details and dimensions

Screen electrodesCable side shield electrodes can be supplied on request. Two op-

tions are available: cast resin electrode or PU-coated aluminium

shield, according to the illustration “Cable side connection with

cast resin electrode or PU-coated aluminium shield”.

Cast resin electrodes are made of a metal mesh casted in resin.

They can be stored outside and absorption of atmospheric moisture

is minimized. These electrodes can be shifted over the bushing

body to enable easy installation of the connection to the cable

pot-head. The other option is an electrode made of aluminium

with 125 µm polyurethane coating. Bushings with a voltage

up to 245 kV are equipped with an integrated shield electrode

on the transformer side.

Bushings of the type shown in the illustration “Outlet end at

transformer with cast resin electrode” must be shielded with an

electrode. The dimensions given in the table above refer to elec-

trodes (EK1, EK2) made of insulating material that can be detached

via a bayonet connection. They can be moved upwards as well as

downwards and thus allow possible installation of a junction point

for the current conductor.

The required distance to ground “A” in each case is contained in

the table above. Additional insulating measures or larger distances

may be necessary because of the constraints when installing in the

transformer. The bushing can also be operated with electrodes and

barrier systems not manufactured by HSP. The distance must not be

less than the “Minimum distance A” given in the above table.
