WHAT IS ARTZAI GAZTA?Artzai Gazta is an non-profit association of farmhouse cheese producers that generate over %50 of Idiazabal Cheese. There are currently 116 shepherd partners in Artzai Gazta spread throughout the provinces of Araba, Gipuzkoa, Navarre and Biscay. Artzai Gazta`s product (Shepherd Cheese in Basque) is a cheese made from raw Latxa Sheep’s milk, that comes directly from the farm’s shepherd.
Artzai Gazta has relationships and contacts with European producers and 30 years of experience backing the association’s technological/scientific knowledge. Artzai Gazta’s objective is to value cheese as a cultural tradition, and the work of the rancher as a value for bio-sustainable rural development.
