Every great story has to start somewhere, and ours began in 1937. It’s the story of a small 80-acre farm that grew into a major force in U.S. agriculture. One built on faith, hard work, innovation and a determination to help farmers succeed. Although a lot has changed since then, a few things have remained the same. For 80 years, Beck’s has continued to put farmers first. We reinvest back into the company, making decisions with the best interest of our customers in mind. We put on our work boots, walk fields, and listen to farmers to ensure that they are receiving the highest performing seed products and personalized service. We haven’t forgotten where we came from, and we haven’t forgotten that our success is driven by yours.

WORLD’S MOST DIVERSE GENETIC OFFERING

As an independent, family-owned seed company, we’re dedicated to providing farmers with the choices they need to succeed. That means providing the right hybrids for the right field, regardless of the trait or source company. Not only do we continue building our own line of proprietary germplasm, but we cultivate unique relationships with elite suppliers, giving customers access to the most diverse genetic and trait offerings in the world. This competitive advantage offers peace of mind, knowing that you can get the diversity and trait protection you need from one company. At Beck’s, we happily put aside pride and competition to achieve one goal – provide our customers with the very best seed products.

THE INDUSTRY’S MOST UNIQUE BREEDING PROGRAM

Having one of the largest seed testing and breeding programs in the Corn Belt is not something most would expect from a family-owned company. Since we are farmers too, our research program is driven to reflect what is most important to farmers – germination, emergence, standability, plant health, and yield. By combining our own elite, proprietary germplasm with our ability to source high-quality genetics and traits from companies worldwide, we have built a foundation for one of the most unique and diverse programs in the country.

Delivering products quickly and efficiently. Our corn breeders utilize the latest breeding technologies, including the dihaploid process, trait introgression, and a state-of-the-art molecular marker lab. Our research department is able to bring farmers high-performing, regionally-adapted products faster and more efficiently than ever before.

Page 6: EIGHTY YEARS OF HELPING FARMERS SUCCEED...EIGHTY YEARS OF HELPING FARMERS SUCCEED Every great story has to start somewhere, and ours began in 1937. It’s the story of a small 80-acre

7

Dihaploid process We implemented dihaploid breeding more than a decade ago, putting us on a level playing field with any corn breeding program in the world. The process decreases the amount of development time needed versus traditional corn breeding practices and increases the speed at which a parent line can be brought to the field for testing.

Trait introgressionWe start integrating traits into inbreds early in the breeding process. At our headquarters in Atlanta, Indiana we utilize greenhouses to aid in trait introgression and help speed up the process, which are tremendous assets to the research staff and our customers.

Embryo rescueToday, we utilize embryo rescue to speed up the process of trait introgression. Embryo rescue is the process of harvesting the embryo 10 to 14 days after pollination and getting the embryo to develop into a young plant. This process can shorten the development of each generation by 30 to 40 days.

Molecular marker labOur molecular marker lab gives researchers the ability to fingerprint inbred lines. Fingerprinting identifies desirable and undesirable genes in an inbred. By identifying inbreds with the right combination of desirable genes, we’re able to more effectively develop high-performing parent lines.

Genetic diversityEach day, we strive to provide our customers with the best tools and resources to not only maximize yield, but to increase their bottom line. We’ve cultivated deep relationships with elite suppliers to give our customers access to the most diverse genetic and trait offerings in the world.

Regional advantageOur multistage testing program allows us to develop and select products based on specific factors affecting an area. Because of our regionalization, we have an advantage over the multinational companies. We intensively characterize products through our replicated testing and Choice Trials program to evaluate pre-commercial products and specifically identify the best area of adaptation.

PRACTICAL FARM RESEARCH

Farming isn’t just about planting seed or raising a crop. It’s about measuring what you do, learning from your experience, and then doing something different to improve your operation. Beck’s has always been in the business of helping farmers succeed. That’s why we invest heavily into our Practical Farm Research (PFR)® program. As new technologies and management practices emerge, it’s difficult for farmers to evaluate all the options. So we do it for you.

To date, our PFR program delivers replicated data from over 100 studies at six research locations across the Midwest. We don’t sell most of the products we test. If a product performs well, we publish it. If it doesn’t perform well, then we still publish it. The results speak for themselves and the goal remains the same — to be the best source of unbiased, farmer-focused research to add profitability to your farm.

Would you like to do the research first-hand?The PFR Partners program connects farmers with Beck’s resources, personnel and knowledge by conducting agronomic studies directly on their farm. We invite you to consider participating in our PFR Partners program. Let us help you develop an on-farm research strategy.

PFR AT YOUR FINGERTIPS

At Beck’s, being your seed supplier means more than delivering a high-yielding product. It’s the assurance of a stand of crops. A commitment to giving you tools to help you succeed. And it’s the promise to be a part of sustaining your operation for generations to come. By providing you with the best farmer-focused research, we want to inspire you to challenge the status quo. We do this by conducting industry-leading, unbiased agronomic research to learn how different management practices and new technologies perform in field environments.

We share the results from our Practical Farm Research program in four ways – our annual Field Shows, PFR Book, Beck’s website, and Winter Agronomic Meetings.

PRECISION FARMING

Long-term profitability is not about large gains each season but rather incremental, sustainable improvements year after year. We continue to learn and identify new opportunities to help maximize yield and revenue by managing farms acre by acre, not field by field. Precision farming is identifying the variabilities, problem areas, and differences within each field to help increase productivity. At Beck’s, we have the people, tools and resources to help you do exactly that.

Interested in implementing precision farming in your operation? Our team of highly trained experts work hand-in-hand with farmers to determine needs and manage technology investments on their own farms. We work day in and day out to help you succeed by addressing your yield limiting factors to increase your bottom line.

ESCALATE™ YIELD ENHANCEMENT SYSTEM

Focused on pursuing innovations, we bring farmers the greatest possible advantages from the seed they plant. Our Escalate™ yield enhancement system does exactly that. Offering insect protection, improved stands and higher yields, Escalate’s unique blend includes an industry-leading fungicide package and the highest rates of insecticide. Every corn kernel includes the optimum rate of Poncho® 1250 for season-long insect control and the protection of VOTiVO® against nematodes.

But it’s the combination of biologicals and/or a biostimulant that really sets Escalate apart. With its exclusive formulation and unique application, no one has a seed treatment like Beck’s. By treating everything in-house, we can ensure the consistency and coverage our customers expect. And because Escalate comes standard on every unit of seed, farmers can go to the field with confidence knowing that they’re maximizing their farm’s yield potential.

Page 14: EIGHTY YEARS OF HELPING FARMERS SUCCEED...EIGHTY YEARS OF HELPING FARMERS SUCCEED Every great story has to start somewhere, and ours began in 1937. It’s the story of a small 80-acre

15

Layers of protection on corn, soybeans and wheat. Our unique application starts with fungicides, followed by an insecticide, and then a polymer is added for protection. Biologicals and/or a biostimulant are applied over the top to maintain their integrity. Lastly, we add a higher rate of a fluency agent to improve flowability and reduce dust-off. As a result, farmers may be able to eliminate the use of talc, but should evaluate their seed drop in each environment to determine if talc is needed.

On every seed.Escalate™ is a proprietary mix of yield enhancing products that comes standard on all Beck’s seed. Escalate is only available through Beck’s.

Take control of SDS on soybeans. With Escalate SDS, we add ILeVO® fungicide to the standard Escalate mix to provide an additional layer of protection against sudden death syndrome (SDS) on soybeans. Escalate SDS will protect the root system from SDS fungus in the seed zone, ultimately producing healthier plants for higher yield potential. To add Escalate SDS to your soybean seed, contact your local seed representative. Place your order by September 15 to secure Escalate SDS on your soybean seed.

RESISTING RESISTANCE

For many years, we’ve relied on the use of glyphosate to control weeds in our fields. While it’s an effective herbicide, the continued use has resulted in serious weed resistance throughout the Midwest. By not controlling these weeds, studies have shown that yields can be reduced by more than 30 percent.

Glyphosate resistance is spreading. In 2012, glyphosate resistant weeds were reported on 61 million acres. That rose to 84 million in 2014 and continues to grow. Weeds that emerge with the crop, or shortly thereafter, have the greatest potential to negatively affect yield.*

Choices.Beck’s offers the most choices in the seed industry to control glyphosate resistant weeds. While two technologies are currently available, two new soybean traits are waiting on regulatory approval.

BECK'S REGIONAL ADVANTAGE

Since the beginning, we’ve strived to provide farmers with top performing seed products. We know that every farmer has individual needs and unique preferences. Every farm is different and no two soils are the same. That’s why we breed and source genetics that are best suited for each one of our farmers throughout our marketing area.

When it comes to selecting products, most national seed companies choose two or three products that work well across a wide geography. At Beck’s, our philosophy is simple. We select multiple, region-specific products that bring higher yields in smaller geographies. For us, it’s not about profits or economies of scale, it’s about helping you maximize yield on every single acre.

Page 18: EIGHTY YEARS OF HELPING FARMERS SUCCEED...EIGHTY YEARS OF HELPING FARMERS SUCCEED Every great story has to start somewhere, and ours began in 1937. It’s the story of a small 80-acre

19

From east to west and north to south, products perform differently across environments. Root strength and green snap are important criteria when selecting corn in the west, while in other areas emergence, plant health, and stress tolerance have a stronger focus. The same logic can be applied with soybean selection. Recognizing these regional differences allows us to deliver additional yield on your farm.

*** The fungicide response refers to the level of possible yield increase due to a fungicide application. The rating is designed to identify which hybrids are more likely to respond positively to a fungicide application. The use of a fungicide does not guarantee a yield increase. Return on investment will vary according to geography, environmental factors, fungicide product used, incident of disease, and other factors. Beck’s recommends following integrated pest management guidelines when deciding to use fungicides. Always follow manufacturer guidelines and labels when applying fungicides.

Optimum® AQUAmax® hybrids help deliver a yield advantage in water-limited environments and offer top-end yield potential under more favorable growing conditions. Product performance in water-limited environments is variable and depends on many factors such as the severity and timing of moisture deficiency, heat stress, soil type, management practices and environmental stress as well as disease and pest pressures. All hybrids may exhibit reduced yield under water and heat stress. Individual results may vary. Optimum® brand products available through the XL brand. ®XL, Optimum, AcreMax and AQUAmax are trademarks of Pioneer. *XL® brand seed is distributed by Beck’s Superior Hybrids, Inc.

Agrisure®, Agrisure Artesian®, Agrisure Duracade®, Agrisure Viptera®, Artesian™, and E-Z Refuge® are trademarks of a Syngenta Group Company. Caution: Do not spray E-Z Refuge products with glufosinate ammonium based herbicides, including Liberty herbicide.

RIB Complete and Design®, RIB Complete®, Roundup Ready 2 Technology and Design®, Roundup Ready®, Roundup®, SmartStax and Design®, SmartStax®, and VT Double PRO® are trademarks of Monsanto Technology LLC.

Liberty®, LibertyLink® and the Water Droplet Design® is a registered trademark of Bayer. HERCULEX® and the HERCULEX Shield are trademarks of Dow AgroSciences LLC. All other trademarks are the property of their respective owners.

General Characteristics Plant and Seed Characteristics Plant Health Characteristics

As of this printing no dicamba herbicide product has been approved for commercial in-crop use with Roundup Ready 2 Xtend® soybeans. DO NOT APPLY DICAMBA HERBICIDE IN-CROP TO Roundup Ready 2 Xtend® Soybeans IN 2016 unless you use a dicamba herbicide product that is specifically labeled for that use in the location where you intend to make the application. While no in-crop use of dicamba is currently approved, some dicamba products may be labeled for weed control prior to planting a crop and subject to minimum plant back restrictions. IT IS A VIOLATION OF FEDERAL AND STATE LAW TO MAKE AN IN-CROP APPLICATION OF ANY DICAMBA HERBICIDE PRODUCT ON Roundup Ready 2 Xtend® Soybeans, OR ANY OTHER PESTICIDE APPLICATION, UNLESS THE PRODUCT LABELING SPECIFICALLY AUTHORIZES THE USE. Contact the U.S. EPA and your state pesticide regulatory agency with any questions about the approval status of dicamba herbicide products for in-crop use with Roundup Ready 2 Xtend® Soybeans and follow all pesticide product labeling.

Monsanto Company is a member of Excellence Through Stewardship® (ETS). Monsanto products are commercialized in accordance with ETS Product Launch Stewardship Guidance, and in compliance with Monsanto’s Policy for Commercialization of Biotechnology-Derived Plant Products in Commodity Crops. Certain products have been approved for import into key export markets with functioning regulatory systems. Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybeans have been approved for cultivation in the U.S. and Canada, and for import in Australia/New Zealand, Colombia, China, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Taiwan, and Vietnam. The single events in Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybeans have been approved for import in the EU. As of February 2, 2016, E.U. stack approval for Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybeans is in the final stage of approval and is expected but not guaranteed to be received in the near future. Any crop or material produced from this product can only be exported to, or used, processed or sold in countries where all necessary regulatory approvals have been granted. It is a violation of national and international law to move material containing biotech traits across boundaries into nations where import is not permitted. Growers should talk to their grain handler or product purchaser to confirm their buying position for this product. Growers should refer to http://www.biotradestatus.com/ for any updated information on import country approvals. Excellence Through Stewardship® is a registered trademark of Biotechnology Industry Organization.

ALWAYS READ AND FOLLOW PESTICIDE LABEL DIRECTIONS. Roundup Ready 2 Xtend Soybeans contains genes that confer tolerance to glyphosate and dicamba. Glyphosate herbicides will kill crops that are not tolerant to glyphosate. Dicamba will kill crops that are not tolerant to dicamba. Study PurposeCombining two years of data from Beck’s London, Ohio Practical Farm Research (PFR)® location to demonstrate the yield and profitability of different cover crops and their ability to scavenge and hold nitrogen for the following corn crop.

†Bu/A. corrected to 15% moisture. ^Net return is gross income (Bu./A. x $4.02/Bu.) minus treatment cost. ◊Return on investment is Bu./A. difference x $4.02/Bu. minus treatment cost. Beck's Annual Ryegrass $0.78/lb. Beck's Corn Champion Mix $1.64/lb. UAN $0.58/unit. Beck's Oat Radish Mix $0.70/lb. Individual results may vary.

Observation After combining the results from the past two years, Beck’s Corn Champion Mix, Beck’s Annual Ryegrass, and Beck’s Oat/Radish Mix planted ahead of corn produced positive yield results versus the control. Taking a look at the data, we see that when the nitrogen rate was cut to 135 lb./A., all of the corn planted into cover crops yielded substantially better than the control with 180 lb./A. The data also shows a positive return on investment across both nitrogen rates as well. Not only are the cover crops producing positive returns, they are helping to improve soil structure, reducing compaction, and most importantly, building organic matter. This study demonstrates the positive effects of planting cover crops and their ability to scavenge and produce nitrogen. More information can be found on page 216 of Beck’s 2015 PFR Book.

MILO/GRAIN SORGHUMAs Beck’s marketing area has moved further south and west, we realized a need for products that perform in those tougher soils and environments. While our corn and soybean varieties have traits and defensive characteristics to yield well, our milo/grain sorghum varieties provide another option for these conditions.

This philosophy, credited to Francis Beck, is a true point of uniqueness that still holds true today. It backs up a quality line of products with a quality way of treating customers. We remain dedicated to putting the needs of farmers first, which means that if there is a need to replant a field of corn, soybean, wheat or alfalfa, we will furnish the seed and royalties free of charge. We’ve always believed in standing behind our products and still to this day, no one else in the industry consistently

provides farmers with that level of confidence or piece of mind.

“We aren’t selling you a bag of seed, we’re selling you a stand of corn.”

Scott Beck, President

THINK BEFORE YOU BIN RUN

The future success of U.S. agriculture depends upon quality seed delivered by an industry commitment to bring innovation and performance through continued investment. The preliminary estimate is that farmers get a $6 benefit for each $1 spent on private sector research.*

Verification RequiredMost soybeans are still covered by a variety patent, and therefore it is illegal to save and plant patented seed. Contact your seed supplier to determine if it is legal to save seed purchased from your seed supplier.

Higher Seeding RateBecause of lower germination rates, higher seeding rates may be required for bin-run seed compared to newly purchased seed from a qualified seed company.

Reliable Germination and QualityNewly purchased seed from a qualified seed company is rigorously tested for quality and meets U.S. Federal Seed Act requirements, is often treated to reduce and/or eliminate seed-borne diseases, and is properly stored and conditioned.

IMPORTANT: Characteristic scores provide key information useful in selecting and managing products in your area. Information and ratings are based on comparisons with other products sold by Beck’s Hybrids. Information and scores are assigned by Beck’s Hybrids and are based on period-of-years testing through 2015 harvest and were the latest available at time of printing. Some scores may change after 2016 harvest. Scores represent an average of performance data across areas of adaptation, multiple growing conditions, and a wide range of both climate and soil types, and may not predict future results. Individual product responses are variable and subject to a variety of environmental, disease and pest pressures. Please use this information as only one component of your product positioning decision.
