CAN YOU HELP? During the month of May, OSLC will be collecting and donating items to the Gift of Life Transplant House here in Rochester. QUILTING IN MAY May 15

9:00am/Fellowship Hall If you can tie a knot, you can help us out.

PASTOR FRED SPEAKS FRANKLY,

Pentecost Sunday is May 20. Pentecost is the

church holy day for celebrating the work of the

Holy Spirit. On the first Pentecost, the Christian

Church was born. On Pentecost Sunday, led by the

Holy Spirit, Our Savior’s Lutheran Church was

started 70 years ago. This year on Pentecost Sunday we will be

blessing the partnership we have with the Palliative Care Program at

Iambi Lutheran Hospital in Tanzania and the people who will be

traveling there this summer. All of this is the work of the Holy Spirit.

On May 20 you will have the opportunity to support our partnership.

Our Savior’s has committed to support the work of the volunteers of

the Palliative Care Program. The volunteers are the people who go

into the villages and do the hands-on work of caring for and

supporting the people with AIDS, cancer, and other long-term

diseases. Our Savior’s will be receiving a special offering on May 20 to

provide financial assistance for a program that helps some of the

“least of these, our brothers and sisters.”

This is God’s Spirit working in and through you, and in and through

the congregation, and in and through the church in the Central

Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania, and in and

through the people who volunteer for the Palliative Care Program, so

that the Holy Spirit can touch the life of someone dying of AIDS.

See you Sunday,

Pastor Fred

JESUS AND BELOVED DISCIPLE May 13: John 21:20-25

THE COMING OF THE SPIRIT May 20: Pentecost, Acts 2

PRAYER OF THE DAY O Lord Christ, good shepherd of the sheep, you seek the lost and guide us into your fold. Feed us, and we shall be satisfied; heal us, and we shall be whole. Make us one with you, for you live and rule with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever Amen. John 21:15-19 The Holy Gospel according to John. Glory to you, O Lord. 15When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord; you know that I love you." Jesus said to him, "Feed my lambs." 16A second time he said to him, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord; you know that I love you." Jesus said to him, "Tend my sheep." 17He said to him the third time, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" Peter felt hurt because he said to him the third time, "Do you love me?" And he said to him, "Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you." Jesus said to him, "Feed my sheep. 18Very truly, I tell you, when you were younger, you used to fasten your own belt and to go wherever you wished. But when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will fasten a belt around you and take you where you do not wish to go." 19(He said this to indicate the kind of death by which he would glorify God.) After this he said to him, "Follow me. The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, O Christ.
