Capability Statement 2016
In 1996, Ecaru began with its first owned and operated composting facility in Menia
Governorate. This facility receives approximately 30,000 tons annually of sugar beet
baggasse, producing 10,000 tons of its highest quality Nile Compost.
In 2000, Ecaru operate MSW sorting, recycling and composting plant in Katamiya 1, 2, 3 with
capacity 480 ton/day.
In 2000, Ecaru operate El Obour Composting Plant with capacity 200 ton/day where El Obour
market is the largest wholesale market for vegetables and fruits in Egypt
In 2001, Ecaru began with its first work in Libya, El Sawany municipal solid waste treatment
facility (operation and maintenance), this facility receives approximately 500 ton/ day of
M.S.W.
In 2004, Ecaru developed the first privately owned municipal solid waste treatment and
landfill facility for 15 May City in Egypt. At this facility, the incoming waste goes through
four main phases: receiving and presorting, sorting of recyclables and baling, treatment of
organic material by biological aerobic processing (composting) and preparation of final
product. Finished compost is screened to 10 mm (about a half inch), with the bulk of the
product going to large farming operations.

In 2004, Ecaru operate EL Arabia Organic Composting Plant for animal production is
considered the biggest company in this field with capacity 150 ton/day.
In 2005, Ecaru developed the second private composting facility in El Nubaria for agriculture
and animal residues; the plant receives 100 tons/day of animal wastes, tree trimming and other
organic waste and produces 10,000 tons of compost per year.

years subject to renewal to Sharkia, Gharbia and Kalubia governorates objective to receive
526,000 ton/year of agriculture waste, rice straw, cotton stalks and corn Stover
In addition to the conventional products produced from agricultural waste such as
compost and animal feed, Ecaru is now producing and selling large amounts of
compacted biomass as an alternative fuel for the cement industry in Egypt. This is the
first contract of its kind in Egypt and opens the door for numerous opportunities to
utilize the organic waste for production of energy in Egypt and abroad.
New production technologies such as pelleting and briquetting are currently produced
by Ecaru, and will soon reach a large commercial scale.

Capability Statement 2016
Is a company specialized in preparation of technical studies in the fields of
environmental systems, health and local development and information systems,
management and development of small industries and to provide advice and technical
assistance in the engineering fields .
Environics:
Is a company specialized in providing investment and preparation of studies design
and implement training programs for all fields related to environment and
environmental management.
3. Company Approach
A. Maximize the return of recycling and restrict the sanitary landfill to non-recyclable
materials, this objective would be achieved with good efficiency that leads to improve
operation economics and extend the sanitary landfill life to the maximum possible life time.
B. Dealing with the site as one unit with a single entry and a single management,
providing an internal effective system to direct and transport the sorted materials.
C. Developing the sorting and recycling technologies along with safe and economic
handling of solid waste (e.g. pressing the rejects in bales before directing it to the
landfill).
D. Establishing an administrative structure based on continuous follow up for
performance indicators as referred to the principles of best practices.
E. Reducing the mobilization period to start the work in any new project to the least
possible limit by transferring a distinguished group of the company’s workers from its
working sites.
F. Developing of new advanced technologies to deal with agricultural and solid waste.
ECARU's technical design integrates all the services to construct a practical, safe disposal
center for the different solid waste and realizing an uninterrupted flow from the receiving
zone to the other steps of sorting, recycling, and treatment, then to the safe disposal in
sanitary engineered landfill.

4. Products and Specifications Ecaru produce 8 types of organic fertilizers as brand names, with defined
specifications for each product:
a) Nile Compost
Produced through composting agricultural residues (e.g. beets and sugar canes)
without any other additives; characterized by the highest content of organic
material and other fertilizing elements; vitamins and natural anti-oxidants and free
of weed seeds and fungal pathogens, bacteria and especially Nematodes. Used
widely in fertilizing horticultural crops, fruit trees and ornamental plants.
b) Qatameya Organic Compost
Produced through composting the organic fraction of MSW. Characterized by
high organic content as a result of variety of wastes, increase the ability of
water retention of the land, especially sandy lands and free of weed seeds and
fungal pathogens, bacteria and specially Nematodes.
c) Obour Organic Compost
Produced through composting whole market wastes (e.g. fruits and vegetables
from Obour Market).Characterized by high content of organic material, increase
the ability of water retention of the land, especially sandy lands and contains
Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium in addition to group micro-nutrient
elements.
d) Humic Acid
Liquid compost, especially humic acid, in addition to other fertilizing elements
dissolved in the compost. Chemical components can be modified by adding
other fertilizing elements according to crops needs. Can be easily added to soil
through sprinkler irrigation system. Humic acid also works as a trap for other
fertilizing elements dissolved in the ground solution.

alternative fuel to cement plants whether from agricultural waste
(Biomass) or from solid waste (RDF).
h) Agro-Pellets
Production of agro pellets from rice straw at agro pellets unit
production in kalabsho.
5. ECARU Researches
Within the framework of developing production and enhancing quality of compost, the
research and development section was established in ECARU and supported with
specialized consultants to achieve the company objectives.
Following is a brief on its activities:
Usage of catalysts for composting process, and the effect of adding effective
Microorganism (EM and Comp-Max-1) to Katameya Compost (produced from
MSW) on the aerobic composting process and product quality.
