In addition, students who have parents working in essential services will make up an 'overflow class' daily. As per Govt guidelines, physical distancing is to be maintained, with only 10 students per classroom, hence the phased approach in returning to school with approx 25% students in attendance daily, only.
Additional cleaning will commence of all school high traffic areas during the day, including toilet blocks, handrails, bubblers. It is advised all students use their own water bottle at school, accessing the drink refill stations available and avoiding the bubblers if possible. Regular hand washing routines will be monitored.
Please send back to school with your child their At Home Learning Pack and any other resources eg school laptop, library or reading books. Students will be in Stage/Class groups but not necessarily with their own class teacher.

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Dear Parents/Carers
Thank you to all of our families for your support during this COVID-19 lockdown period. We have had almost 100% response from Parents/Carers in picking up their child’s At Home Learning Pack.
This has been an exceptional time to be a teacher in a school. Our staff have been learning new methods to apply in their teaching to incorporate learning at home. For many parents this has also been a very challenging time, juggling children, family needs, jobs the lot! We are constantly being told ‘We are all in this together’, well we really are. Some of our staff do have compromised health and are at a greater risk, remaining offsite and still working from home too. We are looking forward to getting ‘back to normal’ as soon as is safely possible.
Returning to School
Following Govt direction the phasing in of students returning to school commences next week, with all students attending one day. The following students are to attend school on set days:
Monday 11 May - Support class students in K6B, K6O, K6M and KM classes

Wed 13 May: No Kinder students; Year 1 - 6 students surnames G to L only
Thurs 14 May: Kinder to Year 6 students surnames M to S
Friday 15 May: Kinder to Year 6 students surnames T to Z

Stage 3 News
The teachers for Year 5/6 are very happy with how
the kids are having a go at completing the tasks
being provided in this difficult time. Students have
been submitting work in the Google Classroom
platform and working on the take home packs. We
thank the kids for taking responsibility for their
learning and to our families for supporting their
children. Below are some examples of their fantastic
work.
The wave By Aimee 5/6R
Since the enormous wave was heading straight for
us, we knew that we were going to have to fight for
our lives. Green Pearl got her spear ready for the
fight and Pyrite got her shield and stood out in front
of us, defending from the maybe corrupted gem
controlling the wave. SWOOOOOSH! The wave
knocked us off our feet and into the raging water.
We couldn't breathe, suddenly the corrupted gem
showed itself. It was a quartz, a blue quartz that had
been corrupted. “I knew this was going to happen''
Green said “but why?” Pyrite gestured to me to get
behind her and for Pearl to get to her side. Green
pearl then decided to attack, running at the gem,
spear in hand and slashed at it until it turned into its
gem form. At least that's what we thought...
“Why didn't that work, Green?” Pyrite questioned
Pearl who looked confused. “I don't know! Maybe it
wasn't strong enough?” Green pearl replied. “GUYS
CAN YOU JUST STOP ARGUING!?” I shouted.
“Sorry...” the two gems responded. By this time the
corrupted gem was foaming at the mouth and ready
to charge once again. I got out my sword and stood
in front of the beast, still looking at it dead in the
eye. It ran at me, mouth still foaming but more
ferociously, and swiped my face leaving me with a
nasty cut on my face. “Aimee are you okay?” Pyrite
asked, fear in her voice, “I'm fine!” I responded.
Then something unexpected happened, the gem
uncorrupted but was still physically damaged.
“Who are you?” Pyrite asked the confused gem. “My
name is Blue Quartz and I don't know why I got
corrupted but I was scared” Blue quartz responded
“Who are you?” “The name’s Pyrite, this is Green
pearl, and Aimee. Welcome to the crew” Pyrite
answered. Me and Green Pearl waved. “Now let's
clean up this water, shall we?” I chuckled.
Sunrise by Zahlia 5/6J
Slash! Shiny purple blood gushed out of the giant
three headed beast as it screeched in pain. Hocus
Pocus hit it once more with a lightning spell, the
beast screamed again as it hit the ground, it’s eyes
closing slowly.
The movie suddenly stopped.
“Awww! What happened to the movie?” The kids
asked as Marie checked the projector.
“I guess the projector’s busted. Well! That was the
end of the movie, anyway and I need to go back to
the castle!” Marie said, walking outside of the small
house. The villagers waved as Marie ran past.
“Slow down, gorgeous! You almost ran into me!”
Perie squawked, his feathery mane shaking
“Heh! Oops! Sorry, Perie.” Marie apologised,
dusting herself off.
“Wait. Since when do YOU walk around town?”
Marie asked.
“Oh! The peasants need to know how beautiful I
am!” Perie said as Marie ran towards the castle.
The sky was flooded by orange and pink as the sun
hid behind the great cherry forest, pink leaves
danced in the wind as Marie walked into the giant
castle.
“Howww was your dayyy…?” Lizzie asked,
strawberry ice cream dripping off of her arms and
hips.
“.. Good.” She responded, walking onto the balcony
after grabbing a bowl of cloud candy. After standing
on the balcony for two hours, Kard Trick walked
onto the balcony with a bowl of silver lettuce.
“Hey. You’re still out here?” Kard asked. Hocus
Pocus walked onto the balcony.
“You guys are out here?” Hocus Pocus asked.
“Hm? Yeah. I’m gonna go to sleep.” Marie walked
into her giant room and flopped onto the bed,
immediately falling asleep.
3/4 C Class News Home Learning is a new
adventure for everyone in 3-4C.
We are part of a great team who
strive to participate, do our best,
learn from our mistakes and have
fun even in isolation.
Check out just a few of the things
we have done with help from our
families.
My Personal Narrative
Author: Dane Date4/5/20
Basketball
I like basketball. I have been practicing basketball at
home, even though I don’t have a hoop. My
favourite way to practice is playing a game against
my Dad, Justin. First, I have to ask my Dad to play.
He usually says no, not until I have done all my jobs.
After I finish my jobs and have a shower, I set up the
lounge room. I put the purple box at one end, and
leave a big box at the other end. Next, we pick a
team. I’m usually the Lakers and Dad is Portland
Trailblazers. To start, I throw the ball in the air and
then Dad catches it and bounces on the carpet to
slam dunk. The funniest thing is when I go to dunk
and miss and Dad isn’t even near me. The last game
we played, Dad won 45-4. After the game, I had a
cup of tea and went to bed. I will try and beat him
next time.
Stage 3 News Continued…
Woosh! Crash!
Marie quickly woke up, brushed her fur and ran
outside. The sky was still orange and pink and there
was a giant drill machine in the Great Cherry
Forest. She started running towards the forest, the
grass started to turn grey and the trees turned
purple.
There was someone on the drill, light grey fur with
purple swirls, her eyes were a bright pink with black
swirls in the middle and a blue tongue hung out of
her mouth.
“Hahaha! Where are your little servants? Where
are they? Did they leave you? Huh?” She asked, her
tongue flopping around as she cackled insanely.
Suddenly, Hocus Pocus, Kard Trick, Manta and Perie
appeared.
“What’s happening here?” Manta asked.
“I don’t know! She just appeared out of nowhere!”
Marie yelled, pointing at the giant drill. The
mysterious figure jumped onto the ground.
“You don’t remember me? Oh, what horrible
friends you are.” The figure said.
“We aren’t your friends.” Hocus growled, slowly
taking a wand out of her black coat.
“Ohohoho! If you want to be violent, i’ll be violent!
Hahaha!” The figure cackled.
“N- NO! No v- violence, please!” Kard yelled but
was barely heard.
“Let’s play a simple numbers game! When your HP
drops to zero. You lose! Let the game begin!” The
figure laughed.
“HP..?” Kard asked but he was instantly kicked in
the face, causing him to fall backwards. The figure’s
tail stretched around some trees, causing them to
be flung into the forest. Marie looked around,
confused. Suddenly, the figure hit Marie’s back and
wrapped her tail around her neck.
Class News K6O
Wow, what a different start to Term 2! This has
been such a challenging time, but it has been
fantastic to see my students engaging with their
Home Learning Packs. I need to say a big thank you
to the parents are carers for the massive effort they
have done to support the continuation of learning
for students in K6O. I have thoroughly enjoyed
having students share their home learning through
our Class Dojo. It has also been very special to use
Zoom to connect with my students and listen to
them read.
I would like to thank Ms Newton, Miss Welsford,
Mrs Dean and Mrs Creasey for their huge efforts in
posting videos and lessons on our Class Dojo.
Here are some of the photos from Mrs Creasey’s Art
lesson and some of the fantastic writing by Jayden
Daly after working through the lessons provided by
specialist writing teaching Ms Newton.
Class News K-2
This term has seen the K-2 children and parents
becoming more familiar with the Dojo platform to
complete their schooling as well as hard copies of
activities which are posted into the student’s
scrapbooks. The students are also able to post
photos or a video, text or a drawing of their
learning through the student’s individual portfolios
on Dojo. This allows the teachers to see the
student’s work and give feedback on the quality of
their work and suggestions on where to next.
The teachers have been busy planning and
designing activities both through the online
platform and hard copy booklets and worksheets.
We have been working as a team to ensure that all
the students in the stage are receiving appropriate
work to meet their needs. Our teacher team that
has contributed to planning, writing and presenting
lessons are; the K-2 class teachers, Miss Newton
(writing), Mrs McVeity (music), Mrs Creasey (art),
Miss Welsford Health/PE), Mrs Warne (Spelling),
Mrs Fay (reading & writing) and Mrs Benedyka
(speech).
These past few weeks have been a big learning
curve for the teachers as well as the students and
parents, especially how to teach and learn through
an online learning
platform. It has been a
great pleasure looking at
the tasks the children
have been completing at
home and the quality of
their work they have been
producing.
A big thank you to all the
parents and carers for
supporting their children
at home with their
learning, often around
their own work
commitments, and the
support they have shown
the teachers and school
during these challenging
times.

Easter Raffle Although the Stage 3 Easter raffle didn’t go to plan and had to be rescheduled, we are so grateful for the effort that our students and families made in selling tickets and returning the unsold tickets to us. Thank you so much to our parents and carers who donated Easter Eggs to go towards the prizes and to Tuff As Work Wear who donated a considerable amount of Easter Eggs. The raffle raised $939.00. This money will go towards the end of year Stage 3 Camp and is an integral fundraiser that contributes towards the reduction of costs for families.
School Stream App Now more than ever it is crucial that parents and families download the Bega Valley School Stream App to stay up to date with alerts and school information. You can download this App for free at the ITunes store or the equivalent App store for non-Apple phones. The School will also use this App to get information like newsletters, bus breakdowns, absent notes, excursion details etc out to parents. Once you have downloaded the App you will be able to sign up to Bega Public School and get all the alerts in real time as they are posted.
Facebook Please join the schools Facebook page, it is a great source of information about what is happening in the school. Information from the school will go out on School Stream and the info from the P&C will go out on Facebook, so make sure you join both.
Scripture/Ethics Term 2
In term 2, Scripture and Ethics will not be presented at school but will resume classes in term 3. Both Scripture and Ethics have an online site children can access this term. See below,
Primary Ethics Bites! Our weekly program for school-aged students. Each week in Term 2 we’ll upload a new ethical dilemma to get you thinking! You might like to share it with others in your house to see what they think. Primaryethics.com.au
Scripture News
Fantastic news! Quizworx, the puppet people that children love to watch, have arranged for Scripture lessons to be home delivered! Here is the link for you to use so that your children can participate in SRE classes at home.
