Procedures for generating Hydric Soils Lists by Soil Survey Area
Method One – Web Soil Survey
This link leads directly to the specific county of interest in Web Soil Survey: Double-click icon below and select a County (shows in Blue)
Chose county of interest
Then select from the ‘Soil Data Explorer’
Then select ‘Soil Reports’ and Land Classifications
And then Hydric Rating by Map Unit
Then choose View Rating
Tables will appear below the map window:
If for some reason this link is broken, proceed as follows:
Proceed to the WSS link http://websoilsurvey.sc.egov.usda.gov/App/HomePage.htm or simply ‘Google’ Web Soil Survey
Click on the Green Start Button
Choose Soil Survey Area
Choose State and Soil Survey Area
Set the Area of Interest (AOI) for the Soil Survey Area
After the AOI sets an aqua colored hatch will show on the map frame depicting the Soil Survey Area
From the Soil Data Explorer tab on the top, choose ‘Soil Reports’

On the upper tabs, choose Soil Reports and on the left side table of contents of ‘Soil Reports’ choose ‘Land Classifications’
Choose ‘Hydric Soil List’
Method Two – Microsoft Access Tabular Data from SSURGO
On the F drive, go to ‘geodata’ folder and then ‘Soils’ folder
Then find SSURGO folder, choose the Soil Survey by number (i.e. soil_ca067) folder
Open the folder and choose the ‘tabular’ folder and open the Access file
When the Soil Reports window opens, choose the ‘Select All’ tab
In the ‘Report Name’ window, use the drop down black triangle and select ‘Hydric Soils’
If one wants a pdf report, on the top selections choose Export pdf or xps and then name the file and destination
To exit the report simply click on the red X at the top to close print view.
